71 Cuda slap stick shift adjustment
« on: June 18, 2010 - 05:57:26 AM »
Adjusting the slapstik on my 71 Cuda:  I cant quite get the shifter to line up very well with the indicators  (P, R, N, 1, 2 etc....)

My Haynes manual is really vague on the procedure to adjust from underneath the car.    Someone plz send clearer instructions

Adjusting kickdown linkage is next......

Loosen the shifter rod adjustment lock bolt
Put the transmission lever in park.
Put the shifter in park
Tighten

if the bushings are worn it still may not line up correctly
