Don't know you, Gary, but kudos to you for doing the right thing regarding your customer. That took guts and strength. Any company that doesn't want someone of that character would never be a place someone it sounds like you are would ever be content.

I deal with this very thing on a daily basis..Why just the other dayWe had a customer come back after the rear brake job and rotors was done on their BMW, with the car making a horrible noise...

We get it in the shop and the first thing I notice is the calipr braket bolt had fallen out causing the caliper to scrub the inside of the wheel...Of course this should be a "Warranty" thing as we looked up who did the job and guess what??? (After hearing from the boss how I need to have five cars being worked on as that's how he did things when he was "On the line" as a tech), it his fault....

The Customer was charged again for the repair as true, it had been over 1 year (Out of our warranty), but Do I call the customer and tell them? Or do I keep my job and not say anything.....

It's a tough call when you need your job....

Gary sorry to hear of your woes. I learned long ago that working along family or friends  just don't work! Also the "insert crickets" reminded me of when I was a manager for a major retailer many years ago. Man I can relate to that. Business is a constantly changing thing, and companies doing business on the "thats the way we always did it" are soon out of business. I hope your transitions smooth and things are going for you soon.

Hey Gary,

Congratulations on keeping your morals above business!  :clapping:
You did the right thing and will be rewarded for your decision to leave.
It may not seem like it at the moment, but you and your family will be blessed for your decision.  :2thumbs:

I just read your thread Gary. Man the company you worked for seems like they ride whatever talent they have into the ground and then just reload. I wish you the best and hope success is right around the corner for you my friend.

Man, what a sad situation for you Gary, sorry. There are two things that will "destroy" any company or individual,........... greed and dishonesty. This place obviously lined their own pockets at the expense of their employees and customers. Sharing what you have, I'm glad you have made the decision to make the move, difficult as it is. You have done  a couple small vinyl jobs for me in the past and I have a couple more for you down the road, keep us all updated please on your location and situation. May sound pretty corney, but I'm proud to say I know a Mopar Bud like you and I do consider you a friend even though we have never actually met.   :2thumbs:     Hope this transition is as smooth as possible for your family.

Gary you have made the right decision, todays new modern standards are only for the morally bankrupt. You can at least sleep at night.   :2thumbs:

It seems everything really worthwhile in life pushes us out of our comfort zone. Marriage, having kids, getting laid off, confronting our own moral shortcomings, or standing up for what is right as Gary did-all those situations serve to make us something we would otherwise never be.

Wow, sorry to hear about all that, what a struggle you've been through.  I hope things turn around for you and your family.

At least you have one thing many people don't...............your integrity.  It's an easy thing to lose and so hard to get back.

Good Luck,

Hey! Watch it Go-fish!  :stomp: Texas is the best ever! I hate that I myself am gonna have to move soon, but it will be the best for my family.

Gary, your last job sounds just like the place my Mom works at. They don't give anyone raises, even my mom who has done wonders for their housewares department. Last year they even told their managers/supervisors "Sorry, but we can't afford a Christmas bonus this year. We just haven't been doing well enough." Well, apparently their version of "Not doing well enough" means they had to buy GMC's this year instead of Cadillac Escalades! Every year the owners buy a brand new vehicle (there are 5 owners, it's a family business) and this year they could only afford GMCs. Man, they must be doing really bad!  :villagers:

lemming - yeah our owners (also a family business) could only afford a 2010 Camaro SS w/ Supercharged LS7, A 2010 Chevy Avalanche (loaded of course), and a nice new 2 door Mercedes Convertible last year.  Of course that's after the brand new Lear Jet the year before...Meanwhile, I drive a 22 year old piece of junk Dodge Ram Charger that cost me a thousand bucks - not by choice but by necessity.

Did have a nice lunch today with 3 of the Buyers I used to deal with at my customer.  They wanted to thank me for all of my hard work and for making their jobs easy over the past few years.  They are dreading someone else having to handle their account.

After numerous jobs I have never found a fit working for others I either get layed off due to lack of work or the company goes out of business  ore you are told to due dishonest things
You are on the right track , keep your integrity , do what you have to survive.
