I can find no way to legally live & work in the US , I would just be another illegal alien & would be banned from the US for at least 10 years once caught , I would not be able to catch a flight that stops in the US , nothing , not worth it in my books

Here's a legal way.  :2cents:

I've known several people who have received their green card through a job offer. I don't know, but would suspect your skills/knowledge in the restoration/automotive field would be very desirable/attractive to that kind of business.

I bet it's easier to win green card through a lottery than apply legally!! (well, I forgot to fill the lottery papers).
I'm here with H1-B visa, oh, what a ****ing nightmare with the USCIC... one needs to provide all the ****ing bells and whistles and even the strings and raw material description in order to get them to give 12 months time!! Not mentioning the time, first round took only 5 months... this seems to be nicely the other 5. Nice way to suck the premium to get things handled in 15 days ...not, meaning the 15 days appears to be closer to 150 days  :clapping:
So yes, I'd say being a El-something and cutting somebodys lawn w/o legal Visa is way much easier than legal way.
Dementia already from the year...mmmm ???

Safe trip, Gary. If you're close to Disney I'll visit next time I can afford a trip  :)

I have a standing job offer in the US , we went to two lawyers & both refused to even take the $$ & fill out the paper work saying it would never get approved even though he said we were the best prepared people to walk into his office ! I have studied the ins & outs of the law . So we are both frustrated , He needs the employee & I need the job & desperatly want to be there

Have a safe drive! Are you sure you won't miss snow?

Neil....I'm married to a US citizen and the "hoops" I'd have to jump through are ridiculous! I too had a standing job offer, even was going to pay my moving expenses,
( tool and die/moldmaker) but the red tape was nuts! Seems to me they need to make the "legal" immigration easier and the "illegal" immigration harder?  :clueless:

I agree , if legal immegration was even possible it would make a lot more sense , no wonder everyone is an illegal , same situation in Canaduh too , wash up on a boat with nothing you are in , show up with something to offer the country in expertise & you are either turned away or the red tape is impossible to get through

:iagree: Yup! This country  :canada: has "issues" regarding immigration  for sure!
I did have a headhunter phone me wanting me to look at a diecasting plant in Alabama a few months ago?
Mind you I have always respected Australia's immigration policies too! ( I looked into going there at one point years ago too) They have/had? a point system. So many points for a skilled trade, age, etc.....
Basically....NO GET OUT!   as I understood it.:smilielol:

yep, my sister is an immigration attorney and I hear how difficult it is all the time.
They should make it easier and drastically increase the quotas for skilled and educated workers, and more difficult for illegals.
At least florida will now have one more skilled citizen living here when Gary settles.

Gary have a safe trip, you will be turning the page into a new year and better prospects for the new life in Florida in the New Year.
Sad Neil with people who have so much to offer and won't be a burden, the government would sooner take an illegal and create a further burden on its citizens.
Australia has a similar problem to Canada in that we have a government who openly have policies which encourage boat people to come to our shores. The last I heard we had a policy of allowing in skilled migrants but it seems to favour people from developing countries and then those people get ripped off by a select few.   :villagers:
