Well, i had a little overheating problem, but that was solved by setting the timing.  i was just done by ear, but putting a light on it and backing it down from about 20 degrees to 4 helped a lot!  iv'e got20 miles on the odometer, but i have an annoying break leak that won't go away.  actually two: one at the splitter on the rear axle, and there other up front at the distribution block.  i have tightened, loosened and tightened, all to no avail.

any thoughts on what to do next?

i got the brake problem fixed.  it turns out that the distribution block did not have the same thread count as the line coming in.  seems the manufacturer machined the whole batch incorrectly.  i went to Autozone and bought the later, one-piece unit.  problem solved!

i finally got the GC emblems, and rocker moldings attached.  i tried making my own attachment clips, which worked ok.  At the Garlits show i ran across these, and they worked great (after some minor trimming):

trimed & shaped for easy fitment:

and the rocker molding are attached:

here is the new clip & old clip for comparison:

I love the look of those 70 Gran Coupe rocker moldings  , they just look awesome and finish the lower section of a Gran Coupe so well. :2thumbs: The 71 Gran Coupe molding is different yet again and really hard to find, look similar but totally different if that makes sense. :dunno: :clueless: :roflsmiley:

Would love to see more pictures of your Gran Coupe with out the car cover on it please :picture: :worshippy

Hey do you know the name of the part and distributor of those clips, ( that needed minor trimming ) I want to switch over.  I do not trust what is left of the crusty old ones either .

I bought them from Joe Suchy, a vendor from North Ga.  they called them 3 inch universal fasteners. they had plenty of them.  they worked really nice.  the  one thing that we learned the hard way putting them on was not to grind down the back side smooth, i.e. leave a little bit there to push it away from the trim and snug it up to the body.

i missed out on taking it to the Garlits show as i put a nasty scratch in the door, that is why it is under the car cover at the painters.  the next show is the Turkey Rod Run at the Daytona Speedway over the Thanksgiving holiday.  i will be sure to take some pictures there!!

kim, he was probably protecting my identity due to my stupidity.   :screwy: (i was so mad i did that & i really wanted to take it to garlits too.)anyway,  i was at todd's friday putting on the rockers and asked if you had stopped by yet since you made it back to the sunshine state.  you should stop by & check it out.  todd, gary, and i are going over to daytona for the rod run, you can go there too if you can't get by todd's.

I saw Todd and I think Gary at Garlits and I've been to the shop a couple times since I've been back when I get over that way...but your car wasn't there I don't think when I was there, unless it was the one under the blanket, LOL, and he didn't mention any stupidity at all...in fact your name and stupidity was never even used in the same sentences   :o)   Hoping I can make the Rod Run, never been and it would be a nice few hours away from the shop    :cooldancing:
