Color Poll for my R/T that will need to be sold
« on: June 21, 2010 - 08:12:08 AM »
Unfortunately, I am going to need to sell my 70 R/T in order to fund our move back to Florida.  It is a numbers matching 383 car that was originally FK5 Burnt Orange.  Which is fine and I actually planned to re-paint it as original when I was planning on keeping it.  However, my job situation has changed - I am now "unemployed" and I need to put it together and sell it.

Since, there is no documentation on the car (the fender tag and broadcast sheets are MIA) I figure it is a blank slate that I can put together in the manner that will bring the best ROI.

I know opinions are like butt holes, everybody has one, but I'd like to see y'alls opinions on the best color choice for re-sale.  The interior will be black as I already have the carpet, dash pad, headliner, and vinyl top.

The colors I have heard from several people are Hemi Orange, Vitamin C Orange, Red, Black, and Sublime.

I`d go with the burnt orange. It`s a beautifull and popular color, plus you rule out dicussions with potential buyers about it being the wrong color.

I voted for Burnt Orange, always liked it and still do (40+ yrs).  Plus, there is not a lot of the them around.

I too went with burnt orange. I really like that color! Mine is sublime ( which I like too)  but the original color is burnt orange and maybe someday when I can afford it I'll put it back to original. For resale it's hard to beat hemi orange though...?

:iagree:   I like the burnt orange also. If it were mine, I'd probably go with blue, but it's really easy to sell a black muscle car of any make (if the body is straight enough). :2cents:

Black makes any car look great, they don't call red resell red for nothing, but, oroginal color will add value

I say TX9 black with a FY1 yellow bee stripe!

Sorry that you have to sell.  Good luck with it and keep us posted.

Burnt orange realistically should add value since its the original color, but that isn't documented, so to paint it a less desirable color based on the fact it came that color may not be my first choice. Burnt orange is a great color but I think if I were building to sell i'd paint it something different. what about interior color? How about Black, white stripes with black/white interior, or orange with white R/T stripe and white interior. Something that stands out.   :2thumbs:

Why not EA9 Dark Gray Metallic?  that would look pretty cool with the black interior, and rallye wheels!  I guess i am just a sucker for non-traditional colors.   :)

original color is always a plus, but for a repaint you left out Plum Crazy  (FC7) in the voting....

Yes, originality may be good for resale but B5 blue with black stripes and vinyl roof is nice too!

I would also look at the cost difference between the paints as well. My B5 paint is almost twice the price of black, white, hemi orange, and so on :banghead: That being said I always liked the high impact colors more! :2cents:

Good luck on the sell and I hope everything goes smoothly for you and the family. :2thumbs:
