    adjusting R/T hood

    I read somewhere on here a long time ago about adjusting the hood on a challenger.  I have a 1970 with the R/T type hood.  It is giving me a problem.  When closing the hood the rear of the hood wants to stay up.  You have to go to the rear and pus each side down.  Any help would be most appreciated.  Thanks, Danny

    Most likely the rivets on your hinges are worn so the holes are oval.  I have the same problem, and am just waiting for the time to pull them out and send in for a rebuild, or buy a new rivet set (haven't decided yet).

    No the rivets are fine.  I had this problem back in the day when I changed hoods on another one.  There was a thread on here awhile back on how to remedy the problem but I can't remember what it was.

    loosen the front side hingebolts and push the hood all the way up. then have someone else tighten the bolts

    You need to raise the front of the hinge. Kind of the opposite of what you would think.

    It definatly is NOT the rivits , just over raise the front of the hood to twist up the front of the hinge & it will lower the rear of the hood when closed

    So one could say if they had the opposite problem on one side that the front hinge bolt needs to go down ???
