Roller Cams
« on: June 23, 2010 - 08:44:45 AM »
hey folks,

So someone told me that roller cams for BB mopars are an issue. Something about the oiling system not compatible.

Can anyone verify or talk on the subject?

thanks

|Rollers work fine in the big block just make sure you use a bronze dist drive & fuel pump pushrod

Also, another thing concerning te oiling of solid lifters is this:  they depend on oil being slung around at decent rpm.  A roller doesn't do well if you like to idle it engine down in order to hear the cam hitting those licks.  At low idle, there is not enough oil to the lifters.  I keep the Beast idling at 1000 rpm minimun  --  if it eases up to 1200 or so, I am cool with it.

The billet cam will eat up the cast gear pretty quickly.  The bronze gear will last a lot longer.

It really surprises me that no one has come up with a steel intermediate drive gear so that you could avoid replacing the bronze drive occasionally.
