Piston Pin weight 340
« on: June 23, 2010 - 05:27:51 PM »
If anyone kind enough to let me know how much the 340 Piston Pin weight?

Or atleast can tell me how much the combination of "original 340 piston+ orignial 340 pin" weight? My book say 340 piston weights 719 grams, but they dont have Pin weight.

Thank you so very much!

984 diameter, 2.500 long, .150 wall, 125 gram weight (for Ross pistons...should be the same weight for stock 340 if pin is the same dimentions)

And I believe the piston weight includes the pin.  :grinyes:

I think the component weights "used to" be in the paper catalogs. On the Federal Mogul website, they have an electronic catalog listed under the training heading, maybe that info is still provided there.
70 Cuda, 7.0L Gen-III Hemi, Viper T56 w/9310 gearset, 3.91's, Megasquirt MS3x v3.57, Innovate wideband, Firm Feel upper arms, torsion bars, springs and strut rods, QA1 DA shocks. I did everything on this car except the fancy paint stuff and I drive it...and I can't seem to stop messing with it....

The early 340 had different piston/pin weight than the later low compression 340, and even the "correct" year aftermarket piston may not have the OEM weight, not even close.  Be sure to match your weights correctly or the engine will have resonance vibration.  I would weigh the parts your taking out (piston and pin together) and match those weights, don't rely on a number in a book.
