What do you do to keep things clean under the hood?
« on: June 25, 2010 - 12:02:47 AM »
Since I've been  under the hood a ton lately I really noyiced how disgusting my engine bay is.   :puke: Years  ago I would have taken engine degreaser and the garden hose. But I'm not big on doing that with 40 years old wiring. I'm going to be done with this project one of these days and want to get things cleaned up. What do you do???  :dunno:

I like to use Simple Green.  It works really well and is easy on paint.

Hey Bigs,

I dilute it 50/50 and use a spray bottle. I let it soak for about 10 minutes and spray it off with some high pressure water. If it’s thick grease, I scrub it with a rag or brush.  I have used it straight out of the bottle as well, but if you don’t get full coverage or it runs, it will streak.  However, if you go back over it and scrub the area the streaks go away.  I like to use it to clean my door jams and trunk gutters, spray it on a rag and wipe it off.

Buy a moderately pressured power washer.  Works great!
