tail light panel
« on: June 25, 2010 - 12:58:43 PM »
Need a little help.
I have a tail light panel going on my 71 Challenger that is currently painted argent and has the typical texture.
I am going to paint it a satin black like the R/T's were. What is the correct finish for the R/T panels painted black?
Do I sand the texture out before I paint it black or leave the texture on it? Thanks, Jay

I believe the origonal paint was "organisol".  That was the same paint used on the T/A and AAR hoods.  It has a slight texture to it however it's a lot less than the texture of argent.  You will most likely need to sand the argent before spraying.

There is a good thread on 71 Challenger blackout on Moparts.  I'll try and find it for you.
