The 70 barracuda for 225.000NOK isn't bad. But you have to ask your self why does he sell it so cheap. A 70 barracuda/ 'cuda usally goes for about 300.000NOK here in Norway.

I talked to the owners of those two a week back...

Don't want that 225.000NOK '70 Cuda cause it's originally a 318, with a 383 2bbl and he's put Volvo S60 seats in it..
God knows what else there is. There is no Cuda logo at the back either so might be a BH or whatever.
Too many question marks on it.

And I don't want that 1974 Challenger because I don't like the front on that model. Got to be a 70 or 71.
Plus that car needs the plate behind the rear window removed and a new welded in and painted cause of a rust issue.
And it's got a 360..

That is a nice engine. If it was in a Cuda or a Challenger that would be a trip I could make.
I'm now dead set on getting one of these, unless someone's got a real cheap Diablo.


Yet another Challenger just showed up, 2 within 3 hours of eachother.. It's raining Challengers..
This one is 1974 Challenger with an unoriginal 383, 727 that needs some rust welded and new paint. 125.000NOK $20.000

Come on fate. Let's meet on mid-ground..

I own a restoration company in western Arkansas, USA. We just purchased a 70 Challenger RT SE, plum crazy  383, auto, black interior, black top, non matching engine but closely dated block. We have the original data plate and vin tag of course. The car is rust free southern car but the previous owner replaced the quarters just because they had some large dents and he didn't want filler on the car. I wish that I could have bought it previous to them being replaced. I have an excellant metal man that could probably have gotten most of the dents completely out. The floors, frame rails and everything else is mint and solid. At this point the car is stripped and I can take some nice pics showing the rust free metal.  Everything on the car will be new or near mint when we're finished. We only use premium paint/materials. I'm guessing that the car will be priced at 40K, u.s. dollars.
The only deviations from original will be modern a/c and front disc brakes. I believe that the reliability of modern a/c and the safety of front disc brakes take precedence over originality. We like to build cars that will be both reliable and comfortable.
I also will be selling my personal car that's a 1971 Barracuda, factory sassy grass green. It was originally a 318, auto, black buckets and auto on the column. I recently converted it into a street radial drag car, but never raced it. I didn't cut anything. I just bought a 71 Cuda drag car and need to sell the green car to pay off the cuda. The car still has the original green paint but it's thin. I'll repaint it to the original color using base/clear. It had a flat hood but I have a real nice rust free power bulge hood that I plan to put on it. I also have a fresh 340 and 727 to put in the car. There are some small rust bubbles in the lower quarters that I'll cut out and replace with fresh sheet metal prior to painting. After that the car will be rust free once more. It's a southern car that a good friend of mine had owned since the 70's so I've always known the car. I hate to sell it but I have way too many cudas and roadrunners and I also own the Black Ice Superbird.

I wouldn't buy an older restoration for top dollar unless you really know the story behind the car. Sometimes older restos need to be re-restored  if not done correctly. That and you usually pay top dollar even for older restos.

Well as you said earlier today the 74 Challenger isn't your cup of tea, so this one should be easy to neglect.   :dunno:

About the Volvo seats, that's an easy swap. Just like custom fancy 17" wheels, you can love'em or hate'em. But it takes only 20 minutes to swap back to original. Owner's installed choices don't have to be that bad. I find the 70 listed a better value for the money.

Found it. First time all I saw was a Hemi Coronet.. :) Nice cars. Out of my price range when it comes to import.

Could probably get original seats, but the car is also originally small block. I'd like to get a 383 minimum.
Does not have to match #, but must match on original size.

But, if I'd have to choose between that 70 383, the 74 360 and the 72 440, I'd probably end up with the 383.

I'll wait abit longer and see though.

Yes it's a Barracuda (BH). Only 340 275hp, 383 4bbl super commender(standar) 335hp, 440 4bbl 375hp, 440 6bbl 390hp and 426 Hemi 425hp was available for the 70 'cuda (BS) model.
The Barracuda (BH) you could get 6-slate 225 145hp V8 318 230hp, 383 2bbl 290hp and 383 4bbl 330 hp

The 383 is a great enige (my 'cuda got one). The 2bbl has original 290 hp if it's a 70 engine, but most of these have had a rebuilt so they have more hp.

Well, it's done.

Ended up with a 1970 'Cuda with a 440 6 pack and a shaker hood.

Here it is:










It came down to that one or a matching # black 1970 Challenger R/T 440, both priced the same.
Both in great condition.

Cuda won.


Case closed.

where is it located?  have you seen the car before purchase?

you should try adjusting the altenator... could be you don`t even need them cables to get it running.......  :biggrin:
