Electric Fan Question

In short which is better? Having the Heat Gauge come up to a little under half way (on a 318) before the fan kicks on and hold the temp around there (210 on 180 off) .

Or have the fan run on and on even when the temp gauge reads cool, it pulls the volt gauge up to half way and seems to be running to much. (192 on 185 off)

I would like to use the 210 because as a rule the ending stays cool on it's own until I hit traffic ( I mostly freeway drive). But, I worry that the gauge running at a little less then halfway might damage something. Keep in mind it only climbs when I am in traffic, otherwise it keeps cool without the fan.

Although I am sick of draining the radiator would it make any difference if I moved the switch off the radiator port and onto the intake?

Regarding changing the sensor, if your radiator cap will allow you open it, squeeze the upper hose as much as possible, then tighten the cap (and hold, which is key). Then you can change the sensor out without loosing much, if any coolant. Puts a slight vacuum on the system.

I have mine come on too soon, i think my fan is a 185 on or something. I have a 180* thermostat, I like mine to run around 190* or so. I should have went with the 195 fan switch with the 180 stat. In short, it usually coincides with what temp thermostat you have.

I have a 190 so what is the best thermostat to run. I think I have a 190 thermostat in it now. but I am not sure. I can't seem to understand or have explained the thermostat to thermo-switch rule.
