Time to post again,
A coworker I've known for about 9 years, has a 1970 AAR Cuda he's owned since the late 70's. He took it off the road in the early 80's & it's been sitting in his garage ever since. As far as I know it's complete & mostly original, but partially disassembled. He said it has some rust, but I haven't seen it myself to determine how badly. He talks about the car occasionally & how he might fix it one day, or even how he may part it out instead of selling it, because the parts are worth so much more than a project car.
I don't think he realizes how valuable the car is the way it sits. It has the original 340-6 Pak drive train, it's a complete car that's been untouched for 25 years. I don't see him regularly, but when I do see him, I always ask him if he did anything with it yet. I told him he should never part it out, & if anything, sell it as a project. I had told him I was interested if he decided to sell, & to please keep me in mind. Of course, the prices on these cars have escalated from when I first met him. Back then I could've scraped the cash together to buy it, but now I don't think so. Besides, I'm buried in projects already.
I'm hoping to find an excuse one of these days to be in his neighborhood. If I can, I'll tell him I'd like to see his car if he's home. It's at least worth buying the beer & talking Mopars to snap a picture of it. You never know, I may have it timed just right, like when he decides he's sick of squeezing his lawnmower past it every weekend in the garage. I always liked the 71's better, but to own an AAR would be sweet, & I could live with just 2 headlights instead of 4. If he does offer it, I think I'd part with my Scamp to get it, but not my '71 Barracuda.
