Went down to Advance Auto and picked up a reman by Remey ....>$123 with tax and core....Core is worth $35....
The R/R of the starter itself was surprisingly quick....took longer to get the part, jack the car up etc....
I figure I will either try and rebuild the solenoid myself or have a shop do it if its cheap enough and have a spare.
I am NOT happy that DB Electrical's "new" unit had issues after just a year....and we all know these cars are not daily drivers....so really, more like what.....6-7 months, if that?
With the reman unit in, it fired right up....tried the starter a number of times direct at the posts just to test.....no issues.
(Knock on wood of course)
Seems to spin a little faster though I am sure thats just my imagination.
Hopefully that is THAT and is the last issue for a while and the trip to Carlisle will be trouble free....
I may ask some of you guys who are going if we can compare gas caps though....I am still having NO luck.....so till then, when I fill up, no parking on steep uphill grades....
