anyone wanna guess at my dyno numbers??

ok took my car to a chassis dyno over the weekend....disapointed a lil...still tied for 2 nd for a 3 day event for normally aspirated cars and i was the biggest pull for the mopar crowd....i still think theres some hp left in my motor...maybe the heads are slowing me down...452 steelies, ported and polished....???  and it was 94 degrees outside on sunday when i pulled...(outside)....sooooo....what do ya all think it did...rear wheel hp and torque?   451 combo 10.5 comp....roller cam (lift in the mids 500) and valve train, 850 carb, m1, 2 inch primaries into 3 inch with FM 44's.......jsut lookin for advice...i want more!.....

What kind of dyno was it? A Mustang dyno will give significantly lower #s that a DynoJet.

If it's a Mustang, I'll say 310-320 RWHP.
On a Dyno Jet, I'll say 380-400 RWHP.

The difference?  Dyno jet is for your ego, mustang is for real numbers :bigsmile:

Seriously....im not debating...i wanted to know...see my engine builder told me when i built this motor 500 was a easy goal...then i went roller...so i figured i would gain on that number.....so thats why i did it.....but i really want to know why the difference in dyno's....can anyone really explain it....i truly dont know what they used...i tried to call them but there closed today......can someone explain....im not giving out the numbers quite yet....im still seeing what people think......

I just took this quote from this page were the article came from...but thanks......sounds like too many varibles to get ur panties in an uproar.....I guess a base line is a base line....do your improvements and go from there
     

A little side note, not all dynojet are the same and there are newer models of the Dynojet that can load the car the same way a Mustang can. Check out their website.

okay i guess thats everyones input........the dyno pull, and i only did one.....was 393 hp and 386 torque rear wheel.....the computer figured in a 25% loss for auto and my loose convertor....flywheel of 491.25 hp   and 482.5 torque.......again i dont know which dyno they used, they had there name all over it for advertising so........im not super impressed to be honest....but it was alot better than most of the cars there that weekend......thinking aluminum heads will be next....BUT which ones????? :pullinghair:

Go run it at the track, that will give you "real world numbers". My 240rwhp 318 was hardly expected to break into 14s, let alone mid 13s with a rookie screwing with the carb and too big of tire on the back  :dunno:

Dyno numbers are just another 'tool' to play with. You can have 500hp, crap converter, mis-matched cam to the rest of the car and it fall on its face. Combination as a whole driveline is what tells you "it's fast" or not.  :2thumbs:

Thanks goody...ur right....it was a cheap run just to get a baseline......afraid of breaking crap at the track..lol...but i will get it there some time.....that will tell the story i guess....need to weigh the car too...i have no idea....

Running at the track is still a gamble since there are variables and such with that as well. But it gives you something to compare with. I got sick of chasing .1/seconds, I got the figure I wanted and leave it as is. I have about 70 slips from my passes, from 15.0 (clean run/no issues) to 13.6.

They're all just numbers, just go beat on it and enjoy!  :burnout:

I pulled 420 rwhp with my 6.1 hemi in my challenger with only a cam swap, :bigsmile: For what it's worth...

I'm like you at least it's a. Starting point I was hoping for 500 so I need to ad another 100 hp

Are u trying to make me feel worse dude or what  :crying:.....i wish a head swap would be as easy a cam swap....but ill have to probably change the cam and intake and roller rockers to switch over to a good alum head, like an indy or some else...thats what i dont wanna do......that will be a small fortune
