Just a thought : How many slant 6, 70/71 Barracudas still out there?

Ive restored a 70  (slant 6, now 340) and now I have a 71 Barracuda, former slant 6, now a 440

That being said, I had a thought:  I'm thinking a orginal slant 6,  70 or 71 Cuda is rarer than a Big Block!

It just blows my mind slant 6's were an option in these cars, but straight 6s were available in Camaros, Chevelles, Novas, etc as well.............

I know what you mean. Back in those years when gas was cheap, why would you want a six?  I'll bet most slant-6 cars were given a big block swap.

A couple of years ago at Carlisle this 70 Barracuda convertible goes by and I don't hear a sound.     I saw the single exhaust pipe, but still...  Then when they popped the hood, there sat a slant-six engine. That blew my mind.

I totaled a 70 Barracuda /6 , AT on the column.

I have seen a few and they were pretty rare combos (high impact colors) on top of that. I have seen a 70 barracuda with a small slant 6 (190 something cubic inches) that was panther pink. I have seen a 71 slant 6 that was hemi orange with orange interior hood pins and a cuda hood (all factory installed), and here in the Bay area there is a sublime green slant 6 convertible 70 barracuda.

Helped a buddy do a 440-6 clone on a /6 3spd convertible 70. When we researched the car, it was 1 of 67 or so. I bet there aren't that many out there.

I had a friend back in 1973 that had a slant six Challenger (don't remember if it was a 70 or 71) with a 3 speed on the floor. He and his wife were a young couple and had a kid on the way when he bought the car. With him I think it was a matter of wanting a Challenger and buying the cheapest model so he could afford it.

My barracuda started out as a /6, but now it's getting a 5.7 hemi.  I didn't really like the motor for power, but it ran like a top.  I gave the motor away to a buddy.

 I need a head for a /6 right now for a duster.

Also have considered putting a slant in my 71 barracuda for a short time just for giggles but I can't seem to find one.  /6's are similar to hens teeth it seems.

The woman parked next to Dave at Carlisle had a /6 Challenger convertible.  I think that was the only /6 e-body that I saw there.
