reverse problems
« on: July 09, 2010 - 12:05:28 AM »
went for a cruise tonight and had a problem. i went to use reverse and there was a god awfull clunking, slipping, bashing, smashing and any other bad sound you can imagine. at first i thought it was something with mr rear diff or driveshaft but it seems to be the tranny. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd are fine but when i try reverse it '' catches '' then skips, the only comparison i can give you is a sprocket with half the teeth gone.
this is a reverse manual vb with trans brake and it has always went into reverse very hard, i told my tranny guy about it and he said with the style of vb/ transbrake there are no adjustments for that and i think it finally took it's toll.

Drop the pan and take a look inside.

here's another thing, i'm having electrical problems. my trans brake is wired into my backup lights so i can go into reverse without hitting a switch. if the voltage dropped to a certain voltage is there anyway it would engage and disengage?
