I've ordered new wheels and tires (see
http://www.cuda-challenger.com/cc/index.php?topic=69915.0) for my '70 Cuda. Everything looks great. I also had to order new trim rings and center caps, all Wheel Vintiques brand.
I ordered the light silver center caps, and of the four I got:
- Two are the dark grey. The box has the right part #, but wrong part inside. One of the dark grey had lots of gold glitter looking sparkles in it that don't come off.
- The other two are the light grey. One of the boxes was not closed (may have been a return item) and the part was scratched.
If I send back the three I don't know what my odds are of getting the right parts back. The finish seems like it might scratch easily and the cost per cap is over $40. I have my original caps and they are looking sort of old. The finish is like a rough broken up gritty stuff, same as my grill. I don't know if the original 'paint' is supposed to be like that, or if it just cracked over the years, or if it was redone by the previous owner. Its like a sort of rough crackle paint. My question is should I try to just order more caps and hope for the best, or have my original caps redone, and if so, how ? Rattle can, powder coater ? Or does anyone else make a good quality center cap ?
Thanks for any advice.
