Tuff Wheel installation
« on: July 10, 2010 - 03:23:04 PM »
I got a chance to install my father’s day gift today. It is the wood grain rivet-less Tuff Wheel which they got from Dales.

So I thought I would give everyone some feedback on the wheel and installation.
First the wheel, the look, finish, and feel of the wheel are excellent and I have no complaints. The horn button has one flaw, the tape that goes around the horn button was lose (not sticking to the button) I took a small popsicle stick a started to press it into position, but that is where a ran into a problem, the tape is too big for the space it fits into (see photo) and it will pinch and crease if I try to push it all the way in.  I will contact them to see if I can get it replaced.

Installation was easy for the wheel itself.  Again I ran into an issue with the horn button and how it clips onto the retainer clip. The mounting clips on the horn button would not fit into the retainer clip as they were placed into a bigger circle (sorry no photo) than the clip, so I had to grind open the clip some so it would fit, a lot of grind a little test fit, grind some more test fit, because if you make the hole in the clip to big the button will fall off the wheel.

Overall I am very happy with the look and feel of the new wheel.

Ron,

  It looks good.   :2thumbs:

I know I had to fudge around the horn switch too. It works though.
