Wolfen,

Here, you must get DMV search.  Then I believe State Police search.
Then Fed search.  Then the feds will issue you a totally new vin that sticks to your door jamb.  I believe that is the process in this state but every state has some differences.  Alabama is the most relaxed about this as I am to understand.

It is very easy in Arkansas also, you go down to the DMV, they do the searches, you give them the bill of sale and they give you a vin and title. It is very easy, we have even had relatives from other states make a bill of sale saying they sold it to us so we could get a title for it in arkansas because it is so easy. Granted not having the original dash vin may hurt the value of the car a little, but it would still definatly be worth saving IMO

we went to get a title for the 66 f-100 that i have. When we picked it up from the guy we bought it from it was a really bad time for him and in his rush to get to the other thing he had to do he forgot to sign the bill of sale and we didnt realize that until we got to the DMV. We got there 5 minutes before closing time and in the town i lived in the DMV was only open every other tuesday. The lady behind the desk says "well i ran the vin and we know its not stolen so im sure you will find a way to get a signature on here before we close"

Well I Finally got the papers back from pennsylvania dmv and they simply say that there is no records for this car in the system.I guess thats good because one would think that if it were a stolen car or something else bad that it would have a red flag attached forever to the v.i.n.    Now I will move on to a title company and hopefully get some other papers for it and put it up for sale.( still kills me that it is more solid than the cuda I intend on doing) ..... Could a brain switch to chally after ingesting so much cuda? I know the wife would kill me for not making up my mind!
I will finish a project.I will finish a project. I will finish a project.

It's obvious that you need one of each!

Good to hear you're going to save it rather than cut it up.  :2thumbs:

:iagree: There's no other solution. Just accept it.

I figure a few grand.
There is no challenger to purchasing a car new.  This car is all about the challenge.  Alot of work though.  Looks like it earns it's name of Challenger.

It would be a lot to fix it, but the issue for me and some of the other posters is that, if you cut it up, you permanently reduce the number of these cars in the world by one. I feel bad about having sent a 74 Rallye 360 4-speed to the salvage yard; I'd feel downright awful about this.

Even if you decide to just sell it, there are any number of people out there willing to take on such a project to restore it to its former glory simply based on the fender tag. I know Id be interested in it. Back back behind thee satan!  :smilielol: :aussie:
