440 timing and carb settings
« on: July 10, 2010 - 08:56:37 PM »
new 440 build 9.5 compression,mp 509/292 cam 108 centerline,,6-pack intake with new holleys..roller rockers.906 heads.chrome box ignition with an older direct connection electronic mech advance distributor tach drive. i have the timing set at 35 degrees.starts right up!.is this std for 440's???that is what i used to set my race hemi at with a 700 lift roller 280 @50 108 centerline and it ran great even at idle in gear and was used exclusively on the street...

also it runs great at cruising speeds but does not like to idle.motor wants to wind and sounds GOOD! 3500 stall speed converter 3.55 posi gears.when pulling up to a stop sign in gear the motor wants to die unless i give it gas..3.5in power valve with 63 jetts in the center carb..outboards r non adjustable...any thoughts???thanks tony.
