Would ofcourse be great to try to rebuild a transmission via the web.
What about the converter? Waste? Even if that one isn't the rootcause it will propably be full of metal that I can't get out?

You can flush it if you put clean transmission fluid in it and dump it over a bucket a bunch of times. I think that it is going to be your problem spot though.

I really apreciate your effort here Terry but I don't dare to take the risc of using that converter if there is the slightest chance that it's garbage.

Looks like I will have some fun sanding the Challengerbody this summer instead
of burning some rubber. :(

What a bummer, does this mean no nats trip, or do you have a spare converter as well as trans?

No Steve, I don't have the old one. Used it for a GTX I had before and I don't think
I can get one overhere either.

For the Nats I don't know right now.

Steve, is it a stock converter? I guess I need some more stall with my 500 stroker and 3.55 gears?

Terry, for my understanding, how come that the reverse works if the converter is broken? :clueless:

Well I have two spare ones actually.

Thay are both stock but are from SB 727s so I think will give you more stall on a BB motor.  If it can get you to the Nats then you are welcome to borrow either until you get your TCI stuff back together.

One of these is even the smaller SB one (10 and something inches) which I believe is good for even more stall on a larger motor.  It is neutral balance non lock-up.

The other one may be from a lock up transmission, I don't know how to tell without having seen the trans. that it came from.

Terry ??

Per, I`ve got one here from my BB727 you can borrow. It`s the one out of my cuda( 440-4.10.)   I`m not sure it`s in top shape since there was pretty much metallic in the trans oil when I got the car, but I drove it a few times with fresh oil and it seemed to be fine.

A lock up converter will NEVER have a drain plug in between the converter bolt pads,so if they both have drain plugs they will work. Also ,a lock up will have 23 splines for the input and a Non lock up will be 24. (hard to count inside the converter though) .

As I've said before, Terry you are a legend.

Anyway, it looks like Bart has a converter more local than mine.

While we are on the subject Terry, can you confirm if I'm right about a smaller converter on a larger engine will generally = more stall ?

I plan to use my 10 and a bit inch one behind my Magnum 360 (I know it needs to be weighted, I have got the right weight to add for the Magnum).

Yes,the smaller the "bowl" the higher the stall.

I'm trying to be a very nice husband for the moment so I might get some money to spend. Although I'm extremly greatful for your offers on the converters I would feel somewhat better with a new one together with my new engine and rearend.
I'm almost ready to pull the tranny and it isn't anything I would like to do anytime soon again. :eek4:
