New member from the Sacramento area
« on: July 12, 2010 - 01:20:34 PM »
Hello everyone,

Great group of people and board! I have been lurking for quite awhile on here and also on moparts.com. Finally decide to join.. Former owner of a 1970 GTO, 1968 Camaro and most recently a 1966 Nova. I am a wannabe as I do not have my own Mopar yet. My brother and I have both wanted one since we were teenagers. I am actively looking for a 1970/1971 Challenger or Barracuda and hope to purchase one before the end of the summer. I would really like to purchase a vehicle from a fellow musclecar enthusiast and not a dealer or wholesaler. I look forward to learning all that I can and maybe even finding my first Mopar on here. On a side note my wife actually supports my quest in acquiring a Mopar...She wasn't too keen on the Nova I just sold. You Mopar guys got a good thing goin' here. Cheers

Good luck in your quest, we have a few members who have done just that here after joining.

Are you looking for a project or a finished car?  Just trying to clarify for you.

Tom,

Looking for a driver with good bones but not a show queen. I believe I will have to spend 20K+ for the type of car I want.

I like your thinking.  Driving these cars is where the fun begins.
Good luck with your search.

Welcome!  :2thumbs:

I'm in the Sacramento area as well. I drive my Challenger around quite a bit so you may have even seen it around. As far as the search goes, you may not have to spend that much to get a good driver. I paid about half that for mine, and although I had to get a few things taken care of before I put a ton of miles on it I think I did pretty decent. The market is way down now too, so you may do better than you think. Even E-bodies have come down quite a bit, especially if you don't mind having a '72-'74 car.

Welcome aboard, you have done a good thing as there are quite a few knowledgeable guys & gals on here, we here in Aussie are snapping up quite a few E bodies because they are most desireable among the MOPAR followers. Ask as many questions as you want as those who don't are really the ones who will either spend twice as much as needed or end up with a bad example of the greatest car on the road, MOPAR.

Thanks for all of the replies. Does anybody know of a Mopar club based in the greater Sacramento area ? I can't wait to get out there and drive while the weather is still good. I will have my Challenger within a month.

You can try these guys  http://www.capitalcitymopars.com/ . I'm not affiliated, but Cap city mopars puts on the "mopars in the park" show at Hagan park every year, as well as a few other events on the website. Great show, don't know much else about the club though.

Welcome!  Don't worry about the other brands, several folks here actually own (a few) non Mopars.  I've even owned a few through the years, Mustangs, a Cougar, Z28, Trans Am, C5 Vette, etc. but I've decided to go back to my Mopar roots.  I still have my first car, a 70 Roadrunner and have ALWAYS wanted an E Body so when I had the chance to pick up a reasonably priced 73 Barracuda earlier this year I jumped at it.  Still trying to get the wife on board, but hey its worth it.
