I'll keep my earthquakes here over tornados anyday. Floods too. We get fires but the valley never burns.

Sorry about the blizzard and extreme cold ::). I forgot to add those in. What's worse, I've been in -42F weather with nothing but the bare essentials :banghead:. That was the coldest night of my life! :22yikes: It wasn't a blizzard though, it was just stagnant cold. That was at Battle Ridge Camp Ground near Bozeman, MT in 1998. :eek2: I was only 15 at the time and didn't have much experience with cold weather camping :crying:.

I'll take tornadoes over earthquakes. I grew up in Kansas and experienced a few, and if you're in a vehicle you can easily outrun them! Their paths of destruction are relatively narrow compared to the wide areas affected by earthquakes too.

Catastrophic quakes are actually rare in CA and only happen an avg. once every 100 yrs per territory. L.A. and down further south certainly has been actively though lately.

Hayward fault which runs across the street from me is way overdue. Were ready if it comes.

One Tornado 3 years ago and still haven't got it all cleaned up.  Took out about 200 White Pines 80-100' tall.  I probably won't ever have it totally cleaned up.  But it could of been worse, at least I still have my house, unlike some of my neighbors.

I would have voted tropical storms, but I didn't see the edit until after.

Just earthquakes, tropical storms and pretty good lightning for me. Pretty basic, I wouldn't mind keeping it that way either.

While I was in Canada I got to go through Extreme cold, blizzards, a smallish earthquake on Vancouver Island and a massive dust storm kinda thing a few years ago. In Puerto Rico I've been lucky so far, only a 5.7 earthquake and a few tropical storms. The island hasn't been hit by a hurricane since 1996 and I hope that record holds. Last night we had a wicked storm with torrential rain and thunder that was house rattling.

...Typhoon is missing too

...I was in a Typhoon while living in Taiwan, high winds and rain just about washed the island clean of EVERYTHING...we were staying on the 3rd floor at the Carlton Hotel and our room was flooded from rain blowing in around the closed windows...water was rushing down the steps like a river...Taipei looked like it had been run thru a car wash...next day we ventured out into the streets and many of the bars (below street level) were chest deep in water, and they were packed with thirsty US Military guys :cooldancing:

...we also survived a major flood while living there...dam broke a mile or so up river from our house and just about washed the entire neighborhood away...shoveled dead snakes, lizards and mud out of our house for days

...also had earthquakes there daily, some you barely felt, others shook stuff off the shelves

...tornados hit our town in Indiana regularly, minor damage only

...I had a 12k sq ft warehouse that exploded, blew it across the street and melted the steel beams into puddles on the concrete...not mother nature, but still exciting

...car crushed by a tree in an ice storm

The devastation caused by a tornado can be overwhelming for sure! I went through Greensburg Kansas last summer and it was heartbreaking to say the least. That was a beautiful little town and we used to really enjoy going through there when visiting family in Hutchinson. That town will never be the same, but the folks there sure have a lot of heart. Most small towns receiving that kind of damage would have just folded up.

I'm sure it qualifies, I haven't had to experience that one though. I have had several friends who've done it.
