Right. Get a battery cable, eyed at both ends then run it from the frame to the engine block. You are lucky that the copper gauge line didn't arc open, spray your exhaust, then burn your car to the ground.
I was at a gas station once, adding a quart of Mobile-1 to my dually Suburban. It was spilling a little so I tried to quickly just jam the nozzle into the oil filler hole. Too much spilled on the exhaust manifold and the whole side of the engine compartment filled with oil fumes then next came the flames. Not just a small fire either. Luckily it was winter time and the station had pallets of washer fluid next to the pumps. I grabbed a bottle and dumped 1/2 of it on the fire, putting it out. Had to think fast. I went in and paid for a bottle of washer fluid. The girl had seen the flames and hit the emergency button to kill all of the pumps. .
