Bad Vendor Alert: XV Motorsports

I didn't see this coming. After having their gas tank with high pressure fuel pump installed, my car would intermittently die. Sometimes, it would re-start, sometimes not. We were finally able to narrow the problem to the fuel pump. I called XV and their tech rep told me they'd never had any problems with their pumps, but would call my mechanic and discuss it with him. He did, and proceeded to tell my mechanic that they were having problems with the fuel pump electrical connections and that he should drop the tank and try to better secure the pump connection, which he did. Pissed, I called XV to find out why I was told the opposite and he confessed that, yes, they were having issues with the pump connections. The problem persisted and I was stranded a few times even after playing with the connection, so I ordered a new tank and pump from Bouchillion. I am trying to return the tank to XV for a refund but, guess what, no response to emails and the woman that handles returns never seems to be in and doesn't return phone calls.  Potential XV customers buyer be warned.

Here is my recommendation to you on this.  Work with XV and see if they have a solution to the fuel pump at this time.   If they can't get a good solution have them recommend a good solution or source for the fix.  Who makes the pump?  XV does admit the problem, they need to provide a solution - bar none. 
If all else fails call Ricks tanks and see what he can recommend.  He's got the best out there, but his tanks are all custom and you loose the stock look from the rear of the car. (It's flat).  Don't give up on it yet..Go over to pro-touring.com and post a question in the fuel injection area and see what John Parson's recommends.  There are quite a few very talented guys over there that are in the fuel injection business.

Tough to resolve things when they won`t return phone calls! Maybe you can try contacting someone higher up in the company?

At one time, they had a booth at the Nats.  Maybe someone can pay them a visit there?

I won't deal with those people any more. I ordered one of their 5.7 carb intakes and paid for it. After more than 6 months of being told it was out of stock and they were expecting them in an a few weeks I finally got my money back and went elsewhere for a manifold. Selling parts that they don't have in stock seems to be a normal practice for them, from what I've heard from others who have experienced the same thing I did. NOT a good way to run a business!

That was my thought also. File a complaint with your C-C company Mike, that be a good start. Often companies are quicker to respond in those situations. good luck!

I am waiting for a few things that they I ordered and they said were in stock when I called. After I placed the Order and not hearing anything from them in over a month I call to find out that they are on back order!

Guess they are having some new issues. When I ordered all my chassis stiffening components (radiator brace, inner fender braces, sub-frame braces) they got them to me with no problems. Granted the inner fender braces were out of stock when I called so I didn't order those til a month later.

Although now I am seriously considering NOT ordering the suspension kit from them that I was thinking about ordering at the beginning of next year. Unless they get their act together I don't think I'd trust them with about $2k of my money with no guarantees.

Also I know they tend not to answer phone calls/emails. I had a hard time getting ahold of them too. All I can suggest is to keep trying on that one.

Look around.  There are much cheaper solutions.  I ordered a set of BEAM'S (www.seatbeltpros.com) 3-point retractables with the aircraft style lift latch for pennies compared to XV.  Make sure you get the extended should mount and the 12" flat sleeve buckle.

Do you have a part number?  Prices on that website were just as high as XV from what I could see.

I'm looking at the XV seat belts also.  Last time I checked they were $70 + $15 shipping on Ebay.

You at least have some protection when buying them with PayPal.

For what it's worth I have had a fuel tank from XV that was damaged in shipping, the nipple for the pressure supply on the pump was squashed during shipping. I also had a set of rear power window regulators that were welded together wrong. Sent the parts that were damaged back and all was taken care of.

Finally got a hold of the guy (Peter) at XV that I spoke with originally who now claims to not know anything about a failure of the connections.  My advice to anyone considering a purchase from XV is to check out the competition first.  Don't know about the suspension components but the folks at Bouchillon have been (so far) much better to deal with and their service has been 1000X better.  Will have their tank and pump this week and can compare quality then, but I wouldn't purchase anything from XV if my life depended on it.
