    Bad fitting rear valance

    Try to fit my rear valance on my challenger but don´t lika what I see  :clueless:

    Any ideas what´s wrong

    Is this valance from another model?

    And the holes for the exhaust pipes,are they for 1970 challenger?

    Something in the back looks very wrong. Was work done on the rear quarter pannels? Have they been replaced? If so, they may be in too far. And I have never seen stock challenger exhaust holes like that. Looks like someone cut those in a plain valance.

    The holes may be for some lamp instead they are only about  2.25" diam
    The upper hole of the valance doesn´t fit to the body and that part havn´t got replaced only the lower quater panels and almost sure that they are in the correct position as well

    must be some bracket that is missing in the upper area as well or??

    I mean beetween the body and the valance

    I ask if the quarters were replaced cause I had the same problem with my trailer after putting new quarters on it. I had to bust a few welds loose and tweek the quarters out. I thought they were in the right place as well. Turns out they were not.

    The upper hole you are talking about doesn't go to anything.

    Hey Tomas,

    I am currently dealing with the same things. The end tab where you have marked with the 1" hole uses a Phillips sheet metal screw to connect to the top tab of the rear quarter on each side. If that tab is too short to make a connection, weld a small extender piece onto it so there is a place to mount that screw.

    My 72 did not have those mounting tabs in that position. My rear pan was only connected with the four tabs on each edge of the pan, two per side, the two sheet metal screws and the center brace that connects to the tail panel cross member. I am modifying the the cross member and making a small mount on each side to make a connection near the bumper guard hole to straighten out the pan. It will have to mount on the bottom of the cross member to miss the bumper mounts. Just a suggestion you may consider doing.

    The panel under the lamps on the side has been replaced

    But the upper hole must have a screw to hold the valance i position ??

    Where I mark 1" was ment to show that the valance is 1" outside the body

    Are you sure that is not a Cuda valance? Sure doesn't look right to me.

    Are they more "curved" like that

    The valance was on the car when I bought it 1982 but I don´t remember how it was fitting
    But after I re painted it the first winter it never was mounted back
    Why I don´t remember so now almost 30 years later I´m very confused

    I don't have a Cuda to compair to. But I do think the Cuda valance is more curved than the Challenger valance.

    Someone with a Cuda have a pic we can compair? :1zhelp:

    Here's a picture of the Cuda and Challenger valances. The bottom two are the Challengers front and rear. You have a Challenger valance. My question is if that rear valance is a repop or an original?

    So it´s a valance for a challenger it seems like

    But it doesn´t fit at all anyway  :)
    This 2.25" holes  then,do they belong on a challenger?
    They looks stock
    Even if the quater panels is misplaced the shapes doesn´t fit at all

    very confuses now  :clueless:

    I have seen some valance with lamp in but closer to the licens plate and they where on "the old" barracuda -67 or something like that
