I recently had another customer call about a reproduction valance that was too long. He had bought the valance about 10 years ago. I sold him a new one and it fixed his problem. Maybe your valance is not an original valance. Worth a shot vs. welding and cutting.
I still want to say I think it is the patch panels that have it all out of wack. You can work around it or fix it right. Your choice. Personaly if it were me, I would have to fix right at the point you are at.
and get another new valence.
Where are those parts made - Taiwan, China, India?
Mine is too long as well. I am pretty sure it's not original. It also has this lame lic plate holder welded to it that does not allow the plate or a frame to be held properly.
You have to cut that off when using it on a 70 or 71
