Thanks Man, that's what I really needed to be sure to put this thing in the correct place. I've done it plenty on the B-Bodies, but never on an E-Body....Much obliged guys!

If you have the correct bracket, it has a small tab in the back side that slides into the matching hole one the frame rail. No guessing as to where to put it before welding.  Look at your frame rail and you'll see a slot cut into it, in that area.

They do not have a lot of pressure on them and they were not precise by the factory.  Like other have said line it up with the tab and weld it.

WOW, it amazes me how anyone could weld that perfect.     :faint:

No wonder these cars didn't sell well when new.  Could you imagine seeing that weld on your new car today?   :swear:

The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realize it doesn't say anything it's to late to stop reading it.

I guess not all frame rails had that hole cut in them.  My 3 e-bodies have that bracket welded in so I can't provide a measurement of an unmolested hole. You should either cut a hole for your tab to sit in with a dremel cut-off disk, or cut off that little tab before welding the bracket. It should fit flat on the rail.  The big nut on the outside pivot ball is centered inside that access hole. It will be hard to put a socket on it if it isn't lined up. Install that pivot ball, with it's lockwasher, put a socket on it, sit it in the access hole to center it, then tack it in place.  That bracket face sit square to the z-bar.  You might want to wait till you trial fit your engine and trans, to tack it in.  Pull everything back out, then finish welding it in.

There is a lot of pressure on that bracket, depending on your pressure plate. Don't put a weak weld on it.
