non rallye tach placement
« on: July 14, 2010 - 05:38:30 PM »
I just bought a tach for my non rallye gauges from year one that is supposed to fit in place of the clock. I read some guys dont like it that far to the right and cant see it clearly.  Can I put it next to the speedo, and then move the other gauges over to the right?  Is there enough length in the factor dash wires? Or is it a mounting tab thing?  Year one say the tach is back ordered for up to 3 weeks, giving me a little time to do some research. Also, as long as I am doing this, am I supposed to do something different to the voltage gauge wiring to prevent a short or fire?

I have Rally gauges, and I watch the tach more than the speedo, so I can undersatand it being over on the far right to be a pain. To move the other gauges over, you will have to hack into the wires and lengthen them. There isn't much room for play with the wiring harness.

I think you should put it in first and see how you like it. You'll probably like it in that spot, not blocked by the wheel.   If you want to move it later, you'll see how the other ones are mounted behind the metal plate and the clock or tach, screws in from behind into the plastic.

Can you post a link to this tach?  Does anyone have a picture of it installed where the clock goes?

Is this the one you bought? I'd like to see a picture of it when you have it installed? :picture:

Yeah, thats the tach I got.  I received mine a few days ago from year one, but the stick-on face was peeling.  The instructions  state that the tach was made by Charger Specialities in Idaho.  I called over there, and Russ was very accomodating.  I sent it back, and he is replacing the face.  He told me that there is a pot metal housing holding the other gauges in place, and that it would be very difficult to rearrange the gauges with out some machining and fabrication.  Looks like I just screw it in place of the clock when it comes back.
