new T/A hood hinge tip

While drooling over the T/A Sam Posey car at Carlisle I saw this slick way of holding open a T/A hood. I had trouble getting hood springs that would hold open my re-pop T/A hood. Center to center dimensions are 8 3/4 and 5/16 diameter rod.
I don't know if all years of Cuda's and Challenger have these holes already or if it's another 1970 only thing? I see the new AMD hinges don't have these holes? Some T/A  owners don't install any hood springs as they are concerned that the spring pressure will "bow" the hood.

Neat idea, they probably drilled the holes.  But I don't see how this would help with hood bow problem.  The weight of the hood is still concentrated at the front of the hinge.

I have a set of 70 hinges here and they have holes in them, they are for a different car though.LOL

I'll probably drill them out on my 72 though if the springs you're sending me don't work.

Ah must be a 1970 only thing then? The new springs I have hold up the hood but in a windy condition....? I don't know so I'll use both while the hood is open for shows etc...? No more hood falling on my head while working under the hood!

yes, dead simple. I bought 4 feet of 5/16 stainless rod ( $5) and just bent them in a vise! 8 3/4 center to center. Made 2 sets.

Could be for the dealership mechanics while working on them as a safety measure?

I'm Glad everybody likes my ideal.  I was looking for some way to hold the hood up and had thought about a rod that went down the middle of the spring. and made one but it was hard to put on then I saw the 2 holes.  I had some aluminum rods that had been in a fire and were somewhat tempered so I cut off one and bent it.  It works great. 
On the Gurney Cuda we used a piece of black PVC pipe since that is what Gurney used in the pics we had.
