There aint new ones around anymore? Im living very faraway(Finland),so costs are maybe too expensive for me..
Thanks anyway!
Ville,
Unfortunately, Mopar is not making switches for E body cars and haven’t for quite some time. The only option for buying new would be NOS (New Old Stock) and there is no telling how the part or parts were stored over almost forty year. If NOS electrical parts were stored in a humid wet basement, there is no guaranteeing that same amount of internal/external corrosion has built up that are on cars that no longer work.
To prove this point, I am attaching pictures of a NOS 68 – 69 Charger, Super Bee, Road Runner or GTX thumbwheel B body dimmer switch. There is flashing in one of the mounting holes to prove that is was never installed. Upon testing, the dimmer circuit only works from the full on to about half way through the resistor coil and just cuts off. The dome light circuit doesn’t work at all. The corrosion speaks for itself. I am planning to offer this type of dimmer switch in the near future as restored because of the request that I have received for them.
There are a few re-popped switches that are available coming from China that I have had in my hands such as the 70 and 71 version road lamp switches and the 70 version thumbwheel B body dimmer switch. I give them all about six or seven tries and they are going to break. Their quality is nothing like the real Mopar switches.
You didn’t even offer any part numbers on the switches you are looking for me to give you a quote with shipping.
I can’t even imagine me, turning the tables and how hard it would be, trying to find parts to restore a car that was from another country, such as an Australian built VH Valiant Charger. My hat go off to the folks outside the US that are restoring and have restored our beloved E body cars.
Because of this last statement, I have always tried to help any of the CC.com members with requests from outside of the US and have sent parts to Canada, Switzerland, Sweden, The Netherlands, Norway, New Zealand, Australia and Finland.
Yes, shipping costs can be expensive outside the US and I understand your concern. I hope you find what you are looking for.
