Ragtop,

To be clear... "doesn't require panel replacement" isn't an accurate statement.  I have a 71 Challenger that I'm working on now that needed all new floors, trunk, quarters, some frame repair, etc.  The metal work doesn't scare me.  I'm saying I don't want something that needs EVERY piece of metal replaced.

Doug's project would have been fine with me if I could have got him to sell it to me :)

Jon

I did accept the $$$ from the guy that is local to me and it is supposed to be picked up tomorrow morning.I just didn't want somebody to buy it long distance and be as frustrated and dissapointed as I was with the car without actually seeing it in person.I guess I wouldn't be a good car salesman

I knew that which is why I didn't give you hard time for your decision.  You're good people  :2thumbs:

As I had told you... if the deal doesn't work out; please consider contacting me as I'd love to talk to you about your 71.

acudanut,

That one on ebay sure looks like a Cuda...  but it is listed as a Challenger.  Maybe my eyes are playing tricks on me.

I'd consider mcemond's deal.  I won't lie... I'm not supersticious but his car does scare me.  I'm not positive he knows exactly what he has and he isn't close enough for me to go look at it.

crocha,

I really want a 71.  Your 70 looks like a great restoration candidate, but if I'm spending the bucks and putting in the wrench time then I want what I want.

mean green,

Is it BS or BH?  I doubt its a driver Cuda :)

I appreciate all the legwork guys!  I know I'll find what I want.  It'll take time though.

Jon
He Changed the pictures, now it's a Challenger...I am sure he must have a 'Cuda project also, since his original pic's were that of a 71 'Cuda.

Check thsi one out on Ebay. Real 340 Cuda doesn't look bad.

Thanks again.  I have some feelers out here to learn a bit more about his 71.   He's in Cali and I'm in Pittsburgh... figures.  I'm still going to see if I can make something happen here.

I sent him a messsage as well to see if he does happen to have a 71 that he'd like to sell.

Thanks for all the help guys.  I've made more progress since I refreshed this thread than I have most of this year.

On a side note... does anyone know why the gilled fenders would be missing on this car if it is a true BS car as the owner claims?

Anything is possible with these Mopars, there is a 71 440/6 vert that is documented(supposedly) as leaving the factory without them. But I would say that they probably were junk and were replaced on this car.

I agree... "probably were junk and were replaced on this car."... Remember, these cars are 40 years old.

Wasn't me... :(  I was waiting for the seller to answer a few questions.  Didn't get an answer....

Could have been a great deal or maybe not.  I guess I didn't get to find out.

Sounds like a deal if the frame rails are decent. It actually has a phone number too which is rare for craigslist ads. Ring him up.
