Here is my shifter handle not quite finished but it looks pretty good so far, kinda like a reapers sickle. Goody sorry it took me so long to reply, the bender was rated for .120 wall mild steel or .90 wall 4130. At, least when I boughht it. Maybe they changed it since then? More to come soon. :working:

Ok- after much deliberation I have decided to scrap the first (the large front section) piece of my trans tunnel, though be rest assured its sacrafice was not in vain. I am going to construct it out of 3 sections. Like I said before I wanted some way of removing the floorpan from the firewall.  Another problem I ran into was no matter how much I stretched the metal I could not get the clearance I desired. So, here's the plan. Out of the original piece I cut a triangle shaped section. That piece will weld directly to the firewall, and protrudes out almost to the front of the new sub-frame I will then flange the edges of it. The other sections I will make anew by tracing out the leftovers of the orignal tunnel section onto paper for templates. Than reshaping from fresh metal, hole punch the upper edge for spot welding to the Triangle shaped section. This will keep it strong and allow me to seperate everthing easily, if needed down the line. Will have pics up Tonight. Still gotta transfer them to PhotoBucket.

As you can see in the first photo the 2 sections I removed from the original piece. They will make nice templates, when you look at the photo's you can see what I meant before. Some areas where tight while other areas have to much clearance. This way I can get a little more leg room and it will be easier to stretch / shrink the metal how i need. More pics coming this weekend, keep your eyes peeled. Again, I would like to thank everyone who has waited patiently for me to finish this thread. I know it's been a long time comin but I am almost there!

Not having mine yet, are there any provision or maintanence access's that need to be incorporated into the tunnel to prevent any future "oh crap" moments, not being able to reach the speedo cables or back up light connections?

OK all here are some more photos

Here are the other 2 sections remade. I got the clearance I needed on the center piece by tack welding it along the top section and using a pry bar to force those sections up. Giving me the clearance I wanted for the Transmissions Service Ears, you could cut them off like most people do, but I'm an odd-ball like that

As far as the transmission tunnel is concerned the service ears were my only real point of contention.  The rest of the tunnel has a ton of room, unlike my engine compartment, which I will post pics of shortly

Even with the T/A hood my carb was hitting the hood, without the air cleaner at that, my only real solution is to drop the motor down.
This is with the motor dropped down to the K memeber. This motor is Tall..............

With the motor at the right height to fit an air-cleaner, that won't smother it, I will have to redo the motor mounts. I will use some poly spool bushings, and
a poly trans bushing so I can limit engine and trans movement.

While I am at it, I will also set the motor back an inch, (I built the Trans mount to allow for 2 inches of set back to begin with) this will help the clearance by the power steering box, for the headers

The clearance at the bottom of the pan is good, it only hangs below the skid plate by about 3/4s of an inch. It also has plenty of room around it. I will have to scallop the K-member where the Oil Filter goes, or run a remote filter. The area around the Oil pump will need slightly clearanced.

There will be more to come, sorry that it has been so slow, but I have had many other projects that needed finishing. I will get some under car photos posted soon as well.

These photo's are from the passenger side by the reverse light switch. Plenty of room for a ratchet and socket right around 4 inches.

These photo's are from the drivers side inside the subframe, next to the VSS and the Reverse Lockout. Again pleny of room for a socket and ratchet, about 4 inches of space in most areas.

And these are some more photo's from around the transmission.

Here are a couple of photo's of the passenger side tunnel section, only need to trim the subframe section, then I can hole punch it for final welding.
