    Viper 6 speed in a challenger

    I am in the process of installing a viper 6 speed behind a built 440 in my 73 Challenger and I was thinkin i wood do a detailed post about it this fall if enough people are interested. This is being done on a budget (Real world here, I have wife and three boys and i am only a sergeant so no mega bucks income here).
    I will include all parts resources/vendors/cost and lots of pics. I am in the Army so finising will have to wait until i go on leave again:)

    I can't wait to see how this turns out. This has been a nagging question of mine for a long time. Glad you are willing to do the extra work in documenting your efforts.

    I woud definalty be interested in the swap , I figure you will have to do a significant amount of work to the tunnel to make it fit

    Cool I put a T56 Magnum (tr6060) in my challenger if you have questions or want to bounce ideas i'm game.  :bigsmile:

    I just found this ebay listing. It has a viper trans installed and the engine to, but it does show the car on a rotissary letting you see the trans tunnel from underneath

    Always looking for more info re upgrading the transmission.
    Moparal that car on the rotissary is fairly extensively modified, even tubs in the rear as well as what could be described as a full frame, not uni body by any means.   :working:

    Yeah, its a full frame, thats why I sent the ebay link and just posted the under body. So everyone could see how much the tunnel was affected. Where the trans mount might go and where the shifter hole came through

    YA a 6 speed has a "cool" factor , but really , when are you going to use it? Lets face it,Our cars float above 130 anyhow? and how often do we really drive that fast to ever use 6 speeds anyhow?  I think a 5 speed is the better way to go?

    Like everything else it all depends on the build and how it all works together and were you wish to drive your car. I have 4.10 rear gears  :bigsmile: so 2000 rpm at 70 is sweet and its still fast off the line 24 mpg with a 500 horse motor. I dont need to go 130 but I can and the motor will do it all day  :bigsmile:

    Al that cars been slammed so it needs an extra large tunnel for clearance I only needed about 1.5 inches in hight for a real street car.
