I will definately take your advise in spraying a larger sample as I have a spare trunk lid that I will spray first just to make sure I like it. The paint will be a base coat, a clear coat with pearl and then a final clear coat.   I intend on only spraying the pearl coat on half of the trunk lid so I can make sure that I really want to use it.  I probably won't buy the paint until after Monster Mopar Weekend, just so I can take one last look at some other cars.

Wow... my quarter looked exactly the same!  That must have been a popular repair in the 70's?

Thanks for the words of encouragement Dave, hopefully it will look good after I paint it as that always seems to be the hardest part of every car I have built.

Travis, funny how we would never consider doing that now but back then it must have been acceptable. Who knows, maybe the same guy did both of our cars?

After driving around for a week with the paint samples in the pass seat,

Glad to know I'm not the only guy who does this.

You are doing a great job on your car and I 'm looking forward to following your build. I'm doing a similar build and have decided to go with Go Mango after riding around with samples in my seat for over a year.  I thought about doing a custom color also but just to warn out from trying to decide.

I contacted Aaron Beck some time back and had him do several chops so that I could see how the wheels, hood, trim, shaved lights, etc would look with different stripes, etc.  Below is my 2 favorites and is probably what it will look like except the color will be a little lighter. Overall, I think I am going to really like the clean look of the handles, emblems, side markers, etc being shaved.

At this point I can’t decide if I should add the stripes or not and everyone that I have asked has been split as well.  So lets start a poll and see which one is the favorite. What does everyone think, Stripes or no stripes?

If it going to be a street car vs. a strip car personally I'd add the strips.  :2cents:

As much as I like stripes, I'm gonna say NO stripes. Looks pretty awesome in the rendering w/o stripes.  :2thumbs:

Finally pulled the trigger and painted the chassis, trunk, engine compartment and body last week. It is actually more orange than the pics show as the fluorescent lights seems to affect the color somewhat.  This weekend I plan on painting the taillight surround, cowl, inner fender edges,  bottom of hood, etc  black and then it is on to more sanding (and buffing).

Thanks guys, appreciate the comments.  I will finish painting the outside of the hood later this week and post some more pics when I get it done.
