Power steering cooler ?
« on: July 22, 2010 - 09:53:23 AM »
Who makes a power steering cooler ? Doesn't need to be stock, just functional? I was just reading in the Oct 2010 Mopar Action about a 1999 Dakota set up ( page 90) and wondered if the part #'s they give are Mopar #'s or what? 52038181 ( with hoses) 52038018 (W/O)
My pump does get pretty hot with the headers so close and all?

Brad, I apologize but I may have spoke too soon :(

The one I have is exactly as shown in this ebay ad (unlike the one pictured in Mopar Action the lines come straight down app. 2 1/4" and there is only one 'ring' coming out the top) -

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Mopar-Dodge-Plymouth-Muscle-Car-Power-Steering-Cooler-/370410190914?cmd=ViewItem&pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item563e2af842

I phoned my local Dodge dealer with the part number on mine, 4695826 (Long Mfg Canada), and they indicated it shows to be for late 90's passenger vehicles such as Cirrus, Sebring, and LHS.

I milled up a bracket to attach it to my tranny cooler bracket ( that I also made)
Works great!!!!! Thanks a million! The pump is definitely cooler now! :2thumbs: Blends in well from the front so you can't see it!

Brad,

You are making me look bad. I have never even felt how warm my pump gets.   :grinno:

Another item added on my "to do" list.

:smilielol:  Ya I came back from a cruise night one night and wondered seeing the headers are so close to the power steering box...and yep! couldn't hold my hands on the pump it was so hot! Now it's still hot but I can hold my hand on the pump reservoir no problem!  :2thumbs:
