Fuel tank pressure?
« on: July 22, 2010 - 06:02:26 PM »
When I go for a drive an get fuel I always have pressure in my tank when I release the cap. Is this normal? If not I guess my breather is blocked? Any ideas?

Yes, that is not good.

My breather is apparently blocked too, so I drilled a small hole in my gas cap, but I have the flip-top type, so nobody knows.   :naughty:

I had fuel starvation issues to clue me in. You haven't yet?

They do make vented and non-vented gas caps?

I too have pressure on the gas cap when I open it.  I also had fuel starvation issues but that was from when I installed my TQ carb and I blocked the hoses that vented the carb bowl.  Starvation went away after re-connecting the hoses.

But the pressure on the tank is always there.  Just like when you open a gallon gas can to fill the lawn mower.  I was getting raw gas up to my charcoal canister, so I removed the 'fuel tank vent line' hose from the canister.  Anyway, what issues will pressure on the tank cause?

pressure in the tank is not as much of an issue , at least the fuel will be forced up to the pump so the pump doesn`t have to work as hard , but the tank should be vented
