I bought a Deralled tranny cooler #13104 9I think it is the one Terry recommended) last fall and had intentions of installing it and never did...mostly because I want to be sure I do it right and didnt have the time to invest into figuring it out.
The kit comes with some hose and an adaptor for adapting it to the radiator fitting, assuming I have the correct size. The adaptor is said to be /2"-20 thread which will fit "most vehicles with 5/16" tranny lines".
I measured my lines and they do appear to be 5/16". (727 tranny, repop stock lines)
The adaptor , assuming it will fit, should make a nice connection at the radiator.
But they give you nothing as far as fittings to secure the other hose to the tranny line, which i assume you have to cut the end off of.
I was wondering if there is a good way to use some sort of adaptor so as to retain the tranny line uncut and still connect up to the cooler "just in case"...I hate to cut a relatively new line like that....plus, their are no barbs or anything to help seal the hose. All the instructions say is "connect the hose to the disconnected trans line".......it doesnt mention cutting...
What have y'all done as far as that hose-to-line connection (the cool/return-to-trans side) ? Also, anyone have pics on how they routed their hoses?
Thanks all.
