How Rare is this?
« on: July 30, 2010 - 10:24:20 PM »
My 70 Challenger RT fender tag has a code for rear seat shoulder belts.  The code is C14.  I have not seen another E body with this code.  How rare is this option? PK

C14 could be the scheduled production date also depending on where it is on the tag. Got a photo?

I don't have a photo handy but it is on the 3rd line up.  The line reads: FJ5 A62 B51 C14 C16 C55.  The code C14 is listed in the parts book so it should be bonified option. PK

Very cool. I do not have a number for it, but the option is scarce for sure. Any photos of the belts?

The "over the shoulder" belts are missing but the buckle ends were under the rear seat and attached to the same bolt as the lap belts. The car is under restoration so I will be looking for the over the shoulder ends.  Have a source for them?  Actually all the belts need to be cleaned and a couple of buckels replaced so I'm looking a a complete restoration for all the belts. I am not aware of a source for them, it is a shame that they are missing, I do not remember ever seeing a set in person.

Do you have a photo of the mounting points on the rear speaker shelf?

For restoring what you have you could try http://www.ssnake-oyl.com/ they do good work but from what I have heard their stitching is not exact.

I have photos but they are too large to post on this site and I can't figure out a way to down size them.  It seems I'm technically challenged!  Got any hints on this?  Thanks for the link to ssnake-oyl.  PK

I checked my files, for cars I have recorded so far only three have C14.

One AAR Cuda, one 318 Challenger & one Challenger R/T.

Barry, is the 318  car an SE?

According to Galen's numbers here are the numbers:

R/T - 14
R/T SE - 15
SE - 6
Challenger - 0 (?)

All numbers are US Spec and may vary slightly due to rounding.

Barry asked for some pictures of my rear seat shoulder belts.  Since my over the shoulder belts are missing I mocked up some using the front seat shoulder belts.  The length will be different for the real rear seat belts.  I'm going to attempt to post some pictures.  If this does not work I will e-mail Barry the pictures.  PK

I photographed my fender tag today using a small format so I'll try to post it.  Barry, I tried to e-mail you some pictures this morning and they came back like something was wrong with the e-mail address you gave me.  I very carefully tried to re-send it and it came back again.  Do you have another address or have you paid your bill lately?  PK

Odd, I have been getting emails all day. Did you use the @ symbol ?   :dunno: The most common reason I do not get email once in a while is that some folks put a c in sixpak.

This one is new to me, I also found another C14 318 Challenger today.

I'll try the e-mail again.  I think I can send a picture of the rear shoulder belt (actually the front belt) connected to the mount. This is how it is supposed to look.  The inside trim panel has been refinished since this photo was taken.  This is kind of exciting, discovering there are a few, very few  cars with the C-14 option. I'll get the e-mail to you shortly.  PK
