Did the 1970 RT/SE Challenger come with non RT side stripes, i have seen restored RT/SE´s with both RT lettering and without so thats why i wonder.

No, if it had a longitudinal stripe and it was an R/T or R/T SE it said R/T in the stripe.

Mine is originally a 340 A66 car. It has a R/T stripe on it & its matte black.

For some reason I've always though R/T implied big-block. Thinking about it a bit more, I think that might be wrong. What is the real answer?

No small block R/T's in 1970.

I've heard that the factory made a mistake on some 340 cars and put R/T badges on them by mistake.  The 340 cars were code A66 but were not R/T's.   Those 340 cars with R/T badges would still have a JH VIN.

There is more debate in 1971 whether or not an R/T with side stripes would have also come with R/T badges.  Some say they had both.  Others say if the car came with side stripes(the stripes had the R/T logo at the back) that the R/T badges on the front fenders were omitted.
