A727 Leak Question
« on: August 01, 2010 - 10:42:50 PM »
I've got a A727 that was leaking at the end of the tailshaft, so I replaced the real seal. Unfortunately its still leaking. It looks like fluid is dripping off of the driveshaft yoke. No fluid is leaking around the new seal.

What's causing the leak? Thanks for the help!

There is like a frost plug at the end of the yoke. If it is bad, it would leak, plus the original type seals had a small hole in the rubber seal to bleed off air when you installed the yoke. If that hole is down, it will drip a bit too

Thanks! Is the frost plug on the yoke servicable or does the yoke have to be replaced?

I would assume   (oops )  that it could be replaced.  Plug seal in yoke

When I get one in here doing that,I take the u-joint apart and weld the cap in the back of the yoke all the way around. Then I put the u-joint back together.
