I wouldn't do this...............but?

I realize this is about 2 months after the fact, but hey, I've been one d**n busy guy, lol. Anyway at Nats parked just inside the gate of the Charger display was a 66 Charger the owner had converted into a pickup (I can hear your groans now), actually he did a great job, fine workmenship and no hoaky/red neck details, he obviously spent some serious $$$ to make the change over, just thought I'd post a couple pics for you.

You have to admit the style/body line of the model lent itself to an almost easy project, I didn't talk to the guy, but he had a good sense of humor, on the windshield he had a sign that said, "go ahead touch her, shes my car not my wife".

Not to bad - at least it is not on monster truck tires ( yet ).
Points for creativity, plus you do need something to move your engine when it's done at the machine shop.
Relatives don't let me borrow trucks or hatchbacks anymore, they say it takes too long to get the stains out.

I'd have to admit, it looks pretty good.  It sure as heck looks better than that awful Challenger wagon we saw at Carlisle!

That's a good question. I thought all Chargers had the hideaway lights that year, but I could be wrong ??? Anyway, that guy did one heck of a job. The back end sorta reminds me of an El Camino.

It was a Charger, but it does look like a Coronet grille, also the maker lights are round, that was a 68 feature right? But hey if the guy converted it to a pickup, the rest is really minor changes right. I guess I'd hope the car had had a really bad rear end accident as for the reason he did this. It was really a professional job, and looked like it could have come from the factory. I got another 66 Charger to show you, next week when I get a little more time perhaps.

all 66 -67 Chargers had hideaway headlights , but you could lock them open , if you look close I think that is the charger grille , with the R/T badge added to it
I definatly would not have cut it like this though
