Newbie with T/A saying "howdy!"
« on: October 28, 2004 - 05:40:49 PM »
Original 1970 T/A Challenger bought from the original owner for $2,100 in 1982.  Have some engine dress up goodies and in process of painting it back to the original Plum Crazy.

Pony mill houses 10.2:1 compression by TRW w/chrome moly rings; 70cc chambers; shot peened, magnafluxed, sized & side polished rods; flat, back cut, 5 angled 2.02" narrow stem intake valves sliding through bronze wall guides; a Comp Cams HE268 cam, gasket match porting, stress relieved T/A block .030 over connected to a PTC 4,000 stall torque converter (www.ptcrace.com) & 727 auto with power out through a 4.56 Sure Grip.

At the 1983 Mopar Nationals took 1st place in the Autocross and 2nd at the dragstrip in brackets (13.8 @ 104mph). Check the my "Six Pak 2 Go" page.

Going to the chassis dyno Nov. 13th.  Will see what she puts out (at 6,100’ above sea level).
Thank You Vets!

T/A Care...welcome to the board!!  Loved your site and your engine bay is looking awesome!  When will the rest of the car be painted?  Would love to see it when finished.

Hope you stick around.  Bunch of great folks who are very knowledgeable and friendly.

Welcome

Thanks for the welcom REV!  I'm just about to start prepping the body for paint.  It's all straight and never been hit.  I hope to have it done this winter.  Some of the moldings and chrome need TLC but it's a driver so I'm not going to get way picky.
Thank You Vets!

Welcome T/A Care ;)
I think I pretty much stopped reading when you said you paid $2100 for your T/A :o :o :o Did you really know what you were buying back then?

At the time I bought it (I was in college) I knew it was a special edition but had no idea what it would become.  Over time money has been tighter and more abundant and I kept running into people saying, "I had a xxxxx.  I wish I'd never sold it."  So I learned from others and hung on to it.  I'm trying to get my son interested in it and working on it with me but video games seem to be more of a priority for him.   ;D  We'll see.  Both kids love to ride in it and do burn outs.  They (and Mrs. T/A Care) get a little bored at meets.   :-\  They all love going on cruises and the head turning it gets!

Welcome T/A Care ! It's nice to see another T/A owner around here. :) I also have a FC7 T/A but mine is a basket case at this point :(. However I'll be in full restoration mode in the next month or so.

Once again welcome and I hope you enjoy the board.

It's cool you've been able to hang on to your T/A thru the "rough" times (college budgets make it tough to keep a hotrod ;D).
Great shot of the engine bay!

You'll enjoy this group ;) ;D ;D
