Some add'l work has finally been done on Steve's car.  Put the new rear disc brakes on.  Installed the headliner. Oh yeah - and painted the car

More eye candy - started to wet sand and buff

Also, some of you may have noticed, I decided to pull off the vinyl top.  I was not happy with the way the adhesive was pulling up in some spots.

Looks great!!

I have a paint question: What is the basic process of applying a 2nd base color (stripe) over the first coat and then timing for clear?

I need to do this as well on my truck. Can you tape off the stripe an hour after shooting base color? and then is it too late to clear or do you wetsand before clearing b/c of timing?

Thanks Gary, I hope you dont mind me butting into your thread.....  :faint:

No problem, I don't mind questions.  Basically, you shoot the stripe color - 2 coats of base.  Then apply fine line tape along edges and mask the rest of the stripe.  After spraying the rest of the base, gently remove the tape.  Since it is all done at basically the same time, no need to wet-sand before shooting clear.

Well, finished buffing for now - plan on hitting it one more time before delivery date  :bigshades:

Started to rebuild front end for Steve. She's getting all new poly bushing, new upper and lower ball joints, new calipers, rotors, pads, brake hoses, and shocks in addition to the new steering box, pitman arm, idler arm, torsion bars and tie rod ends already installed.

Wow, can't believe it's been so long since i updated this thread.  Well, needless to say, there's been a lot of progress over the past few months.  Car is FINALLY nearing completion.  It's taken me longer than I had hoped but Steve has been very patient with me as life has gotten in the way over the past few months.  Starting a new business, "personal issues," plus an unexpected death in the family have all conspired to push the delivery date on the Challenger further back. I have been sending Steve updates and pics as I go along but have neglected this thread.

Long story short, car is pretty much back together.  Took it to the exhaust shop yesterday and got the Magnaflow system buttoned up.  They said they had to do some cutting and fitting to get it right but overall it wasn't too bad.  Job took them 2.5 hours.  The best part - I drove it back from the exhaust shop!  I believe this is the first time the car has been on the road since the mid-late 1980's!

At any rate, here are some pics for your viewing.
