Hafta see if that old bell will take the tko. I never had it in the truck. My buddy got it off CL.
Ya same plug wires. That's pretty far off though. Hmmm.

O.K.... A new record time for R&R of the trans. and ect...    2.5 Hrs. each way. Got it down... :working:    Rob (SD) here sent me a 360 12" factory flywheel. It's been raining for 2 days and finally cleared up enough to try it out...   To my amazement it's quite different! I still need to drive it more.  There is still a vibe, But it's 50% better!! :ylsuper: There is play at the slip yolk. And I know that tell tale neutral throttle vibe going down the road. :sly: That's my next thing... Now would a new yolk help or is it actually in the tailshaft of the trans.?  I know it's not the u joint.   But something is better, Something has helped!  It's got to be that play now.  It doesn't vibe like it did in neutral, But I really need to test her out more. Sunny Friday tomorrow...!  :cooldancing:    I'm looking to get a 4 spd. OD out of a truck to try, Can someone post a pic of what I'm looking for and what I'll need to do to run it?   Rob... You are a good dude. Thanx.     R/T    :drunk:

Using the truck trans is a little bit more involved since you aren't using a stock 833 trans to start with. To switch it over you'll also have to get a shifter and linkage, a 23 spline clutch disk. maybe a new throwout bearing, a different tranny crossmember, Probably have to have the tran's front bearing retainer turned down, unless you get the truck's bellhousing if it was used with a v-8. If not, get a new or used bell housing and have the front hole enlarged to 4.80". Might have to have the tailshaft's shifter mount drilled and tapped. Need a new shifter mounting plate. And anything else I forgot.    Quite a few things  just to try it.

Glad you got it shaking a little less. Hope to hear some better news after you drive it more.

The TKO is garbage.    I'll look around,Didn't think it would take that much... What about the viper trans?  How much mods. Are there for that? Er could it go to a small block?  Guess I'm waiting for Passon like everybody else.  McLeod...Eh.     I'm going to try and find a semi-cheap a833 4 speed and try and forget about it. Even at less than half the price. Tremec or Keisler will never go on any of my cars ever again.   :villagers

well...    I'm slightly calmer now.  Sorry for the rant.  But I'm pissed... Mostly at myself...

Did some searching and made a few calls... Found a place in Denver that has done these 5 speeds before. 5-600$.   bushings/syncros/gaskets  And then prolly a new shaft/slipyolk.    Not sure what else to do.  Every other option costs too much right now.  And I need that 5th gear bad... Enough to eat a little crow. :puke:

Thanks Tony... Ya' it's just one of those things.  I'll figure it out.   R/T

Had to do something...    So,I pulled it again and took it down to a transmission shop here in town. With the driveshaft.  After a few days I called back... He said they checked it out and would fix the shaft leak and put a new rear seal in. That would allow them to more closely examine the tailshaft. He said it looked fine, That the shaft was true. And that he doubted that it was the trans. causing the vibe. 100 bucks later...  I'll put it back in again. Bring it down there and show them. But as usual, I'm back to my wits end with it.  He didn't think there was too much play at the slipyolk. With it in the car it's easier to see maybe.  And I'm reefing on it.   Guess it's time for a new driveshaft  and slipyolk.  UhG. R/T
 :dunno:

After I chuck it back in... I'll try and take a little video for you guys to see and hear what I'm talking about...

Without reading all the way back.  You have the Reilly's front and rear correct?  If you have the rear 4 link, what is the pinion angle?  Compare the two, 3 degree's down and whatever the rear pinion is.  You want them to match - one up, one down.  Did you modify the Keisler built drive shaft?  The reason that I ask is the amount of slip yoke that extends from the tail shaft can also cause a vibration if it in excessive.  Look at the u-joint and see how close it is to the offset shifter bracket.  The slip yoke has about 1/4" of movement in it through the arc's of the acceleration and deceleration dynamics.

RMS front and rear.  I'll check the angle. Need a new gauge.  That's not it though,I've been all over it. Tried it.   I had the keisler built driveshaft shortened. It was in a Challenger. Er that's what you told me.

Got it back from the trans. shop the other day. They fixed the leaks. New record install this time.   So, I've been cruising around a little.   It's different from gear to gear. Still a buzz.  But I expected that.

The trans. shop says they can fix it. Might hand it over to them. They want it for some time though... And that will cost!$$

At this point I'm very seriously considering selling the car regardless. As a result of all the problems I've really started to loose interest. Might start over with a better car. Go a different way. Not sure.   been through too much with it.     R/T

selling that car because of a vibration? that car has $7000 worth of suspension under it and a $5000 tranny!!! i belive i would would let that b%&ch buzz all it wanted to and hammer it till it breaks than u know what was a vibrating fix it and haul ass again!! that is a sweet car and it would cost alot of dollars and time to replace it. measure your driveshaft and compare it to others with a keisler tranny see what that says i guess. i can see where you would be frustrated though.

I'm glad you are back driving it.  Please make a video of the buzz.  Get it to buzz and then push in the clutch to see if it stops.

The pistol grip is about the worst thing to offset off of the mount because of all the plastic components coupled with age you get rattles.  The harmonic that is present just gets amplified.  Does the buzz stop when you grab the pistol grip?

I am prepared to take a loss.  It's just not worth it anymore.  25k would take it all.  I'd never look back...  eBay here we come.

The buzz stops when I grab the shifter.  It's those crappy plastic grips. They are a joke.  The buzz is different from gear to gear. Ya,I'll make a video of it.   Trying to blow it up isn't that bad of an idea! But I'm at the end here.  It's not fun anymore.  R/T

What are the prospects of putting an original Bell and an 833 back in it?

Have you lined your pistol grip with teflon tape?  I say this because I did this years ago with my 4 speed and the pistol grip.  From about 3000-4000 RPM is sounded like I had a locust in the car with me.  My problem was the screw threads where crap and nothing would stay tight.

I donated my old 4 speed to help an old friend. So I'd hafta' buy a different unit. $$.  Oddly enough I have that kinduv coin right now... And I have thought about finding another one. Any ideas there?

I've tried everything in the grip itself... Rubber gaskets,Paper gaskets, filled with bondo,caulk,tp... Anything. In fact,I was going to make a one piece shifter handle to try.  Uhg.    Going to get that vid for you... :burnout:

Quick search for A833 on craiglist shows a complete bellhousing/trans set up in Fort Collins and several short and long shaft units in Monument. No prices on either.

You might also check coloradomopar.org, southerncoloradomopars.org , or rpm.maxwedge.com for some local clubs that may have some insight.

I wish I had a spare one to offer you, but I haven't had the chance to acquire one yet. I've seen them at the Tri-State swap for $200-500, but that isn't until February. The Bandimere mopar show did get rescheduled to the end ofAugust, so you may be able to source soomething there as well.
