Yeah the old yolk has a small groove worn on one side.it's still on there.need to exchange the one I got.  Winters coming on,considering a moser 8 3/4 fabricated housing for this garage season. Have the whole thing gone through if I'm going in there that deep again. Couldn't afford it at the time with the 4 link and brakes. Got it back together to take over to the shop next week depending on weather. Ho hum can't wait to get it fixed though.  It was nice to get up past 100 mph one more time this year.

I think they sell a sleeve to go over the groove just like the one they sell for the grooved harmonic balancers. Maybe someone here can find it.

Well...   That's it for me with the tko5. Just got done re-doing the center and yolk.the vibration is still there. Yeah,it needed to be done.   IMO the tko just isn't cutting it. I'm super frustrated now. Winter will bring a McLeod 5 as my next choice. The tko has never been right. Bought it used. What a waste of my time.Keisler can have it back for scrap.  :pullinghair:

If anything it's worse. Hmmmm.   Maybe a new housing/axles?  The cheap plastic grips/ multi- piece design of the handle just leads to rattles.  Anyone else have a vibe in the handle under throttle? I'd think some was normal but  ???      I can't remember if it always did it or not. With the a-833.   Thanks for the tip drew! I'll take it over to my friend's shop in defeat.See what he can find. If no leads I'll try your dude.  This is beyond me for some reason. Goin' to play with the Charger for therapy.  :working:

ok.  so.   I was verifying what flywheel is in the car with jegs. A part number check. All i said was i was having a problem. He asked if i'd like to speak to tech... eh oh alright wtf.    in about ten seconds he told me 73' was the ONLY year for an EXTERNALLY balanced 340!!!!!!!!!!!   So it's the wrong flywheel and probably the wrong harmonic balancer. DoH! My head hurts. 540.00$$  for a flywheel.

Now i'm at mancini. McLeod has em with holes drilled for weights. They are neutrally balanced. Do i get that and have it balanced?  What damage could i have done from running like this? granted I havn't really given her the full pedal due to the vibe. Also...any recommendations for a balancer? Flywheel?

So,I'll be in the garage. getting it out.  Thanks for all the help. I feel sick. :puke:

Did your engine builder internally balance the motor when he rebuilt it?  If so, you're no different than any other 340.  Did you put in a steel or stroker crank?

I'd think that you would've felt more than a minor annoyance if the motor was that far out of balance.  :dunno:

No,I don't think he balanced it.it's not stroked.just poked 30.small cam. I just cleaned stuff up. Yeah,me too. I would have thought it would have been worse. At this point it's all I can go on.

You can have your flywheel drilled by following this template or get a 318 steel crank and use it. I happen to have one of those 73 cast crank 340s too. The rear balance is just a small hole to drill.  I'll look at my front balancer to see what it says on it.  It would have cost you just a couple of hundred more if you had it balanced when you had it out.

Thanks!  Yeah,I'll look into getting it drilled then. That would be cool. I think the dampers are 7 1/4. 7 1/8.     I'll confirm what's on there.  And move forward.

My balancer on the front  says "use with 340 cast crank only".  If you don't have one it'll be a rare part to find. If you do, then the drilled flywheel should fix it.
