Tried driving it again. Last nice day out for awhile...    It's different. Hard to explain.Maybe better.  Sometimes worse. Hmmm. And now it's leaking oil from behind the harmonic balancer.Great.      One thing at a time. So here we go again...

Get a flywheel. (which one?) Neutral (like i had) Or pre- done like the mcleod?

Then what!?  Take the fly and p/p to someone. Get it balanced? Gotta' call this place "mopar masters" See what they say. This whole deal sux. Top it off,Got ripped off 300 bucks for a steering column off ebunk. You should see what this guy sent us! WoW crazy what people will do.   I need some serious help here now. please be patient with me.  I'll do whatever it takes. Just frustrated. And thanx for the help... it helps. :-[

Ya it's already been done. Sux too..really slowing me down.

Ok... Well I've calmed down a bit.*sigh*

Drove home.The vibe is better.Just a little.
I had a nice chat with mopar madness. We will talk more but he said they can help. And specialize in small blocks. He asked about the forum.

So my plan right now is to get the neutral flywheel.
Drill the one hole.
Remove the weight on the pp.
And try it like Shelbydog says. I trust you dude!
Then I'll know...

The pre drilled one from mc leod looks to have too many holes.

And I wanted to set the record straight... There's nothing wrong with tko. This is my fault. And I apologize for talking trash. No place for that here.Just frustrated. That's all.
I drove my car today! Huge grin on my face! I'll fix it,Besides what else do I got to do?  I love the car.

Well if you get too sick of it you could sell it to me for a ridiculously low price and I promise to give it a good home! :poopoke: :smilielol:
Seriously though, my son is in love with your car!   :2thumbs: He is 10 and his all time favourite car is a 69 Charger. He loves looking at your updates. He never misses a chance to tell me how I should get one for "us" to work on!

I'd rather give it to you. It means more than money. And I'd know it had a good home.As for the charger...If I had a 10 yr. Old son who knew his cars.Chose a charger. And was willing to finish it. I'd make darn sure that happened. But I'd try and talk him into a Cuda! :poopoke:    If not then a charger it would be. But make it happen. There is no next time.   You'd be the coolest dad in the world.

Ehh... Well... I'm about to order a new flywheel... 350.00$.(hayes) Any thoughts on an aluminum one?  For that price RAM makes one. The oil leak around the balancer is pretty bad. Mopar madness called me back again. He said 416 :icon16:  And asked about the balancer I had.And said he had a new one with removable weights and sfi approved. For 100 bucks... I'm thinking the old balancer Tom sent me is either worn right there at the seal,Or the shaft on it is slightly smaller? Think it's worth the 100 bucks to get a new balancer with new rubber n stuff and it might fix the leak.Save me tearing the front off that's all.   I'm gonna' fix this thing.  :working: R/T

Fixed the leak with a press on sleeve for the H/B shaft.9 bucks! Such a deal! Flywheel next week and put an end to this. An extremely competent machinist friend will drill the hole as per diagram. He had to open up the crank hole a touch on this flywheel before I could get it on anyways. Make them the same too. Oh how this has taught me the hard way.  Can't wait to finish this up and check it out. I know this is the problem.I just know it.

Before your have your machinist friend drill the hole, have it BALANCED.  A friend bought  a brand new flywheel and it was still off balance a little. That drilled hole will throw it off a little, so future balancing without the crank an bob weights will be impossible.

Oil leak is back. :dunno:  I couldn't find any damage to the seal.  Ok,I'll get the new flywheel balanced first. Not sure where to take it yet. Found another mopar guy closer to me.Going to ask.  He's got a rebuilt 340 for sale.1500.might check it out. Thanx SD,Sure hope this works.

If you have to replace you may consider buying 440 Source flywheel. Mine was their steel model and was under $200. Check their site. If it was me I would take the engine out and disassemble the engine (and of course mark where all the parts go) and have the entire assembly, incl clutch/flywheel and damper balanced properly and internally. Sounds like a pain but it is the best solution. And if this was done earlier you would be driving it now. The balance should see you reutilizing the McCleod flywheel and a better solution would be to use a Fluiddamper from 440Source (they have SFI label) and forget the external balance. The balancer fellow can use Mallory metal if weight has to be added to the crank. If you used forged pistons they are lighter than stock so a balance may come out without using Mallory metal.
Hope this helps as it sounds like you are going thru hell but you are one dedicated Mopar dude that is for sure.

:walkaway:   ya i know...     sux. the way it all happened. Wish I knew engines like some of you guys. So bummed all the money.Could have been done right. I've talked to the mechanic who re-built it for me. But the damage has been done. got no funds right now to tear it all down.   And going so close and not upgrading the cam,redoing/selling the heads, not to mention the rotating assembly...  *sigh* I'm just so dumb. And at a loss.   nothing seems to work out for me on this.

screw it... pulled everything off again.welded up two of the last three holes left.Did some quick layout for the correct position of the hole. He is real close. So I left it. Cut off the counter weight from the pressure plate. here we go...
I'm expecting little change. My gut says out of balance engine. Got nothin' to loose but my time. All my coin goes to the Charger. And it's too nice out to not at least give it a shot.     :violin:  R/T
