Thanx HP2 !!   ya, i'll start looking. need almost everything though...   rods, new clutch,bell,shaft,cross... UhG.

here's a vid...  now it's much better than it was before the swap. It was bAd...   Notice it only does it when in 2nd. or 4 th.   And under neutral load at speed... watch close while in 5th... i make it buzz a few times. when completely on or off it's not bad... that neutral cruising spot.     Sitting in neutral it barely does it.   And watch as  I downshift to 4th...   big time vibe.   :dunno: :clueless: :1zhelp:

And oddly enough BigBlu73 it's only after 3000 rpm's.   Am I nuts!? is this normal!?  It only really vibes in 2nd and 4th.

Wow !!!

1st gear -  not noticeable (in the video),
2nd - it starts. Loud.
3rd - quietens, but still noticeable (the noise at least)
4th - Loud again, but at a different pitch to 2nd.
5th - Disappears.

Is that how it translates actually being in the car or can you still notice it and 1st & 5th?

it also vibes at speed under neutral throttle. easiest in 5th.    watch close and listen.    You translated it correctly Russ...          It's barely as noticeable in 1,3, And only there really in 5th under very minimal load. Hard to hear in the vid. but it's there.

I can take more video or pix of anything...    I'm open to all ideas here.

It's something in the gear cluster? Gotta be?  Good grief man don't sell it because of a crappy tranny!
Take it and throw it through the manufacturers front window maybe , but don't sell the car!
Is there no warantee? :o  That's a huge chunk of change to not have the manufacturer not stand behind it! :stomp:

It's something in the gear cluster? Gotta be?

Was thinking the same thing. If it was something outside the gearbox; driveshaft, axles etc - I would have thought the vibrations and noise would be constant through the gears.

As it is, I don't see how it can be anything other than the internals of the transmission itself.

I'm going to go back and read this thread from the jump.

What kind of trans fluid are you running in it?

GM synchromesh.       Got some nasty wheel hop last night.  What causes that?

unitrax...  ok I'll see what they say, thanx.  But I'd hate to have to send it all that way.

A new 4 speed is not really money well spent.  after driving and comparing the 4 to 5 speed OD.   there is no other choice.  So waiting on passon and saving.    I might find a 70' roller and swap the suspension/brakes over, then part  it out and sell the shell.  Or just dump the whole thing. I'm super pissed. And basically disgusted with the whole situation.   Sorry to rant. R/T

Me thinks the tranny needs a rebuild. Clearances are opened up somewhere in there. I agree with Brad, don't dump the car cuz of a bad tranny. *****en' an' yellin' at TKO might get you somewhere.  :2cents:

Can't really... Bought it used here.        If a rebuild is over 800+$  I just can't do it.   I can't fight it anymore. So, After much deliberation. and many sleepless nights. Selling seems like the best thing.   R/T

But you'll lose much more than that $800 or so selling it with the trans issues, than if you sold it after it was sorted.

Got parts you can sell? (aside from a busted transmission) haha sorry.

Numerous times in the last 26 years I have owned my Challenger I have thought the same thing. They aren't always easy to sort out. But I am glad I never actually sold it. Owning an E-body is an elite club. We own the best musclecars on the planet! Take a break from it. A little time. But KEEP it. You won't regret it. Replacing/rebuilding the tranny isn't too bad. Even if it is financially not doable right now.
