hey sadil,  that sucks... Did you ever try anything brake related?  I had a similar problem years ago with a bmw.  Changed out all parts I could think of but in the end it turned out to be one of the brakes hanging up just a tiny little bit. I could hardly feel it with the car jacked up.  Just a thought. good luck

I havent followed all of this, but i know youre frustrated and have been fighting this for a while.

If it hasn't already been tried, would you consider putting it on a chassis dyno? You could isolate front from rear and might be able to see some things in road-like conditions...

I'm by no means an expert but it sure seems to me from this thread and others that it's either driveline angles are out or an internal problem in the Tremic transmissions?

trade for a Charger  :dunno:

Gotta admit it's frustrating but since I've had the car for over 40 years, I'll give it a few more...  :smilielol:

Hey Bart, thanks for the suggestion - actually, yes I did have a thought that maybe a drum is way out or something like that.

I havent followed all of this, but i know youre frustrated and have been fighting this for a while.

That's actually a great idea! I have a lift at home and put it in gear and watched but without load on the wheels I didn't have any confidence that anything I was seeing would be the same if it was on the road. I wanted to dyno the engine anyway, so I'll look for one near my house.

I'm by no means an expert but it sure seems to me from this thread and others that it's either driveline angles are out or an internal problem in the Tremic transmissions?
I don't have a Tremec but I do suspect drive angles. I took a swing at it but I think I'll bring it to a specialist for another opinion.

Here's hoping we both get our vibration sagas solved!

I haven't read all the responses, so bear with me if you have already had this idea:  I had the same EXACT symptoms.  I tried every damn thing in the book, and rebuilt what I thought was EVERYTHING that could've caused the vibration .  It was finally found in the rear dif:  Heres' the deal.  Our rear difs are basically about 43 years old.  And its the ONE item on our cars that is basically neglected, even with basic maintanance like adding or changing oil in the rear dif.  Ring, pinion, axle bearings, clutch pack, etc will be sloppy over 43 years, and in bad need of replacement.

We typically never go into the rear dif ourselves for a rebuild because it does take some special tools, etc, to set up all tolerances

If you have tried everything except the rear dif, you need to have it checked out.  Take the car into a reputable dif shop,  or just take the axle. It only takes about an hour to completely remove the rear axle

I believe that's where your vibe is.  I had the same exact thing/signs, but at 70 MPH   It would start there, then seem to dissapear at about 80 mph.  That's the only speeds I would feel it but it sure was aggravating.  It would be perfectly fine otherwise, at other speeds

Bite the bullet and have the dif checked

Well DocMel, This is Robert's, IMNCAR82, thread and he has gone through the rear end. This has been a problem for 3 years.

The other problem you are reading about above is about SADIL340's car who just hijacked Robert's thread instead of starting his own.

I had the rear rebuilt as well and had the axles checked and they were perfectly true, but thanks!

I was sensitive to that and asked if it was ok earlier and no one seemed to mind. I think adding info to the thread is adding to figuring out the problem not hijacking. To each his own.

The problem is that most others are addressing Robert's problem and you are answering the questions and suggestions like they are addressing you.

If you want to see what is going with a load on the drive line I thought of getting a camera that plugs into a laptop.  Then zip tie the camera under the car run the line to the lap top in the car and record.  You will be able to see exactly what is going on.

That sounds like a pretty good notion. Make sure you have the right field of view and that the camera is tied tightly so it doesn't bounce all over and keep you from seeing anything.

Damn this thread is depressing, and I'm only reading it. Almost 3 years passed and still nothing definitive. Would hate to be experiencing what Robert is. I feel for you mate.
